Samsung Gear VR - Micro USB to USB C

I've an old (~3 years old) white Samsung Gear VR headset, the problem is none of my phones are MicroUSB now so I think I've to change the connector, can anyone advise if this is possible and if it is how I can do it cheaply? also, it didn't come with a controller, what's the best/cheap controller option?

Can't do it cheaply but here's the replacement part on Samsungs website:

It only works with the Gear VR 2.

If you have the older version you're out of luck.

Thanks for that, I can't believe how cheap the headsets are now, I think it was over €100 when I got it and that was with a special offer from Vodafone for a pre-order at the time.
