I'm replacing the shutters over the outside troughs on the cattle shed, making 15 by 4ft frame and sheeting it and hanging it over the trough.
Anyway my problem is that the paint is taking days to dry, I didn't use primer on the first two shutters and thought that was the problem, but I've used primer on the next three and it dried grand, I painted with green oxide yesterday morning and this evening I still couldn't handle it..... any ideas

It's probably late now if you have them painted but I got some kind of accelerator to mix through paint for a front door I had to do around christmas time , It worked a treat , he got two coats on the same day .
You could hire a space heater for the day and move it around them to heat them up for a few hours to speedt things up aswell

Well bale wrap is not re-cyclable, and the rest is just wood.
Whats the use of putting it into landfill, or sending it half way around the world on a bulk carrier burning heavy oil at a rate of 45 tonnes a day, so that tbe Chinese can burn it over there?

The rope only attracts attention to the setup imo and wouldn't have a chance of stopping the trailer in the event of a breakaway. He was as well to use a shoe lace as a rope for all the good it would do if the trailer unhitched. There was a time I'd put a chain around the drawbar and the ball hitch if I had a doubt but nowadays I try and keep the brakes right on trailers. Even if the chain prevents the trailer running away after unhitching I don't think a few tonne on a leash behind the jeep is going to end well regardless.

Fair play to him, i reckon there is zero chance I'd ever have the time to do something like that.
I wonder how many hours he spent on it?

I'm thinking of making a water drinker out of an IBC. Has anyone here ever made up one? And are the dimensions of an IBC 1m x 1m x 1m or is it a little taller with the pallet bit at the bottom. I has hoping to collect one in the back of a kangoo van.

Just measured one here. The cage measures 40inches x 48 inches and 45inches high. A bit bigger than your measurements.

    Cheers for that.

See attached IBC trailer I made.

I put support's each side of the drinker so when it's sitting in the field the jockey wheel is supporting the front
I also put a tap beside the drinker it came in handy a few times.

Auto return like is on some log splitters

Yes, that will return, but I want ram to continue working in both directions until turned off, if possible.

    Nice.
I would recommend making a cover to protect the plastic valve on the tank, maybe your stick are saints but ours would scratch on that until it snaps off :(

You want it to work continously back and forth? A single valve won't do this. You will need a combination of a valve & switches to do this. Whats the application? Is it for a yard scraper?

I have done this, but I use it for Horse, they are a bit more gentle.

Ah c'mon, some common sense. What if you, or someone you lend it to, trips and falls onto it. By law, logsplitters have to be 2 hand operated on the splitting stroke. It is ok to have auto return, provided there are no pinch points on the return stroke.
I made up one and it is impossible to catch your hand on it.

Here is the valve I used.

I can take some pics if you like of the 2 hand linkage I made.

Know a fella lost his thumb in one where one hand is free, I’d worry about a reciprocal ram.

Anyone have experience of "Einhell" drills?

The local hardware is running an offer on them and seem reasonably priced. Are they worth a punt?
