    Going unreg for this one:

I've had to undergo a few different tests in relation to fertility when we were looking at IVF treatments.

Had to visit the clinic and masturbate into a specimen jar. Then call for whoever the nurse is and they come to collect the sample.......as far as I can recall, there was an option to do the deed at home and bring it in with you but its just as.....er.....'handy' to do it in there.

They were checking for things like sperm count, motility (how well they're able to move, overall activity etc) as well as things like STDs etc.

Nope but I have two kids, both conceived without any issues whatsoever thankfully. Have you concerns? Would assume its a fairly straightforward process tbh. Produce a sample, its sent to a lab and you get your results.

No, my wife used to go on about fertility decaling as you age, the we had twins and she stopped.

I've heard of couples going to IVF where it was assumed the woman had problems conceiving but in facts it was the guy with the low sperm count. Kind of makes you wonder about the clinic and why they didn't test both of them! With men it's often lifestyle based, to much smoking, drinking and bad diet. Change those and the problem goes away, less revenue for the clinic.

If you are worried OP talk to your GP and get fully checked out including blood tests....

Just on twins - it’s no sign of amazing super sperm ( as people often like to imply) but rather that two eggs were released at once ( in case of fraternal) or the fertilised ovum split - in the case of identical. Hormones try to compensate for declining fertility in women and sometimes over compensate with two eggs being released as a result of high follicle stimulating hormone released by pituitary gland. So fraternal twins are more likely when you are older. As we found out ourselves.

And IVF clinics do look at fertility of both partners as standard.

Yes. Got one done before I got 'married as the reason was I was approaching 40, and if the results were bad , there'd be no time 'wasted ' trying naturally before seeking help for conceiving. She was mid 30's so we weren't in the prime age bracket for conceiving. It was done through my GP, not with a clinic.

Yea we have 1 child and are struggling with no. 2 so I’ve to go for a fertility test which I’m very nervous about, it just doesn’t seem normal, I don’t think I would be able to produce a sample in such conditions and reside too far from the clinic to do it at home and bring it to the clinic so I’m in a bit of a predicament. Anyone know if they have porn in these places or is that just a myth or if your partner can come in to assist?

Yep they have porn but it's probably not to your style so maybe just use your phone.
I went a few years ago and couldn't produce. The thoughts of so many other lads being there just weirded me out.
Leather chair to sit on and some paper sheets to cover the couch. Just yuck.
I produced at home and drove it there instead.

I would just like to mention that before my husband and I went for IVF, we had his sperm tested via our GP.

He had to give a sample at home and drop it off at the Rotunda - the results showed low count and motility. We repeated the test -same result.

We then went to an IVF clinic who literally put his sperm through a wringer after having given his sample onsite and his sperm was fine.

They explained that the only way to get a real assessment of sperm is for it to be tested within an hour of the sample being taken.

If your GP recommends doing a drop-off style test I would recommend instead just going straight to a fertility clinic as they will give you the most accurate results.

I was so happy for my husband. He was so dissapointed and felt he was letting us down but turns out all is well with him and we just have one of those "unexplained infertility" scenarios (thankfully the IVF worked!)
