The hourly met.ie forecast has the Temp going down to 2C for Dublin with hourly rain at 4.9mm between 6-8pm. Sounds miserable.

The rain is arriving in sudden short clumps of wet, not that cold at the moment and I say that as someone working mainly in an attic today.

The rain is starting to stick here in Kildare...

I take it that the ECM Snow Depth maps that Kermit posted last night are off the cards now? ie No mention of anything other than wet slushy snow on mountain peaks on MT's morning forecast and 6-7ºc

"Very sunny" reads as blue skies in all directions. Is it really that clear down there in Costas??? :P

I could be wrong but the visible satellite imagery shows a hole in the cloud layer moving over the Arklow area but it's moving fairly quick. I could only picture a temporary large gap in cloud cover rather a clear sky.

Either way, I'm still jealous that you're getting to see the sun.

It has gone from rain to sun and now to overcast here in Ashford since 9 this morning.

Rain stopped now in Limk City. Saw a few flakes of sleet about an hour ago but then back to rain. 3.9c atm. Absolutely wretched day out. Grey, dreary damp and very cold

Lashing in cork city all morning. Seems to actually have gotten colder as the day goes in, 4 degrees now. Cold breeze but dry for now

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

Finally stopped deluging after 4 hours.

There is now a lake between dwelling and gate.

It is brighter now and the sun trying to emerge.

The clouds are odd; lying flat in monochrome layers ,

    Usually varied and round

It's the type of rain that tends to accumulate here in Laois... we're losing very little to evaporation.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Notable drop in temperature has commenced at the Durrow (South Laois) station:

    temp.png

Peaked at 5.2c not long after the rain arrived. Now 3.8c and Dewpoints at 2.8c.
Winds have backed west after a southerly fetch all morning long and have dropped light (19mph down to 8mph)
Steady rain. 6mm since 11.15 am when it started.

    ❄️SNOWFALL RISK

    ⚠️INLAND MUNSTER, LEINSTER

    ⚠️DISRUPTION OVER HIGH GROUND

    Please Share

A band of heavy rain is expected to cross the country during today, Wednesday, turning increasingly to snow in many areas for a time through this afternoon, this evening and for a time overnight. Bringing with it a risk of some accumulations of snow, especially so on ground above 200 metres with some disruption to higher routes in the Midlands.

    More information to follow.

How are conditions in your area at present and have you seen any snow just yet?

    Kindest regards,

    Cathal Nolan
