Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Shipping grub to Poland?

    Not sure where to post this so hoping somebody can help or it can be moved to somewhere more appropriate. I was looking to send a box which contains some food from Ire to Poland, no liquids, jams or anything in a jar that can smash and spoil the whole shipment, just some crisps, dried fruit, legumes and packet or two of snacks. Seems an post are saying it might get destroyed if I try send it and they will get fined. so how can I send it???

    it's weighing about 2.5kg and can all fit in a shoe box but I might send more stuff over if it's not too much more expensive, an post is 36 eur for that weight/dimension but if 8kg and a bigger box will cost 40eur Id go for that as I've some more things too.

    Did you get a quote from courier companies? An post are ridiculously expensive.

    Stay clear of An Post, try international shipping companies, a quick Google search returns a Dublin based company shipping 25kg for 35e. I've always used Polish companies so I'd pay 25e for 15kg and 30e for 30kg with the parcel collected from my house. Too bad the company I've used doesn't have a website in English so unless you speak Polish it would be of no use.

    There are many private couriers that just deliver between Ireland and Poland, use by the Polish community. Just give one a call, they all speak English and very affordable.

    I can reccomend Polish company named "Kapral Trans"

    I have used them 5 or 6 times both directions PL-Ire and Ire-PL. Never had any problem with them, always delivered on time as agreed.

    They will collect package from your door and deliver to the address.

    If you send anything from Poland they arrange another courier that will collect package from your door and deliver it to their Office in South PL.

    They drive each direction once every 2 weeks.



    And just to add - I'm not connected to them, I'm only their customer.

    Price -between 1.5 to 2.5 euro per KG depends on how heavy is box and if you are returning customer.

    minimum fee is 25 euro for 10kg package.


    Website is in Polish - if you need help with translation let me know.
    They speak English so you can contact them directly as well with any query.


    There is no restriction on food and not flammable liquids.
    restricted are cigarettes and alcohol.

    I used them to send boxes of jars with baby food ( much cheaper in PL than IRl) and some other stuff.

    Last year I sent a number of packages to Japan with An Post through UPS and they got there quickly and in great nick. Sent food and other items. Would probably not be as expensive to Poland.

    at least that's what their calculator says.
    The last time I sent a parcel with Eurospedycja it was actually GLS that collected the parcel from me and 5 days later it was in Poland, you can easily track it online. The only delay on the way was getting the GLS guy to the Midlands, took him 3 days to travel here from Dublin :D

    Shipped two parcels (46 kg total) with www.dtd-kurier.pl yesterday. Won't be able to recommend until end of next week when parcels arrive. So far no issues.

    Op,
    I say just said send the food anyway. You wont be the only one sending food back to poland via an post.

    But if you are still worried about it getting beat up in transport, use a biscuit tin like PoorUncleTom said or something similiar for the bigger stuff you want to send.

    Lads don't ever use Eurospedycja😡😡😡😡😡 package get damaged and there will be no refund or insurance (you never receive any penny from this guys)
