Sounds like the threads were done properly at the factory, just get back onto where it as bought & tell them. They should replace it no hassle.

As mentioned it sounds like the threads in the receiver of the lug box might be incorrect. DW Drums actually use a different thread to Pearl/Yamaha/Mapex/Tama ect, it's a much finer thread so make sure that this too isn't the case....
