She was actually quite good this morning & slapped down the former FF hack Noel Whelan - which always gets a cheer from me. :)

Interesting discussion about Pope Francis this morning too - could be in for interesting times if his biographer's assessment of him proves true.

O'Rourke was even better: he picked her up on concentrating on a relatively trivial aspect of the Dáil committee hearings with the bankers, and ignoring the real human problems at the core of the proceedings.

Paddy O'Gorman survived the cull. Not sure about his dog.

Have RTE ever bothered to survey listeners about features such as POG and MLOD, or is that the sort of detail that's beyond them?

I don't see that there was much of a cull, seems like the same old same old.

And when the seanad is abolished MLOD will even have more time for radio!

If you mean MLOD, no, she's still there.:D

Paddy O'Gorman's piece was well integrated into the programme today. We had a discussion of Personal Insolvency Practitioners and related matters, and then we had Paddy interviewing people who were in debt crisis.

I'll vote for retention of the Seanad if Enda promises to lock MLOD in there for the duration

I can imagine Cathering Fulvio bouncing in to the studio, only to receive a grilling herself.. redface.png

    Can you imagine.
Sean O'Rourke: "And how long do I leave that in the oven for?"
Fulvio: "you leave it in the oven for twenty minutes".
Sean O'Rourke: "But on a TV3 demonstration on Aug4th 2012, you said that it should be left in the over for fifteen minutes. Have you changed your position on this?"

Sean actually came eerily close to this exchange in a piece with Kevin Dundon on Friday.

Did O'Rourke get out of bed the wrong side or is this designed as an attention grabber for the papers?

He's such an Al Gore-type automaton isn't he. Whatever else you can say about Pat Rabbitte, his interviews are at least worth listening to...

Gilmore sounds more and more like a young fellow trying to justify not having his homework done :)

Newstalk stuck Pat Kenny Posters around Dublin. Looks like O'Rourke plans to respond by sticking Gilmore's head on a pike outside RTE's front gate.

He's done for after this disaster. He'll be gone as Labour Leader before Christmas.

There's no move against him because if there was he'd "have heard about it" .... like hell he would! Eamon you don't hear the knife coming you just feel it when it goes into your back ;)
The deep sighs out of Gilmore is hilarious - real "Jesus, what's he going to hit me with next" kind of sighs. Is he very close to the microphone or what?

Now for Timmy view of history

What was the point of that interview?

It struck me as odd that he be given an opportunity to comment on Gilmore's interview after Gilmore had finished.

It was unbalanced, because O'Rourke had subjected Gilmore to challenging (even adversarial) treatment, so nothing else was required.

    Who makes the editorial decisions?

He's an equal opportunity griller, you must not have been a regular listener to the News at 1.
