That catch from Stokes...I'm struggling to think of a better one right now.

The one against the Aussies at Trent Bridge was the better catch, in my opinion. He was fielding at gully (or 4th slip, maybe?) that day, consequently he had far less time to react than he had today. Also, the ball had more or less passed him when he snared it. Today's was a brilliant effort, no question about it. But the Trent Bridge one was better, IMO.

    This one .. ?

I think considering the height of today’s catch and the ground he needed to make today’s by a way surpasses it.

That's the one. Absolute stunner of a catch. Better than today's, for me. We'll have to agree to disagree.

you know Eoin Morgan has had a British passport since birth right?

His mother is English, so England could just as easily claim that Ireland were taking one of theirs.

    WI v PAK this morning

WI won the toss, and elected to put Pakistan in first.

13.4 overs was all it took

Pakistan were absolutely atrocious with the bat, then Gayle and Pooran pretty much dismantled the attack.

I don't know if WI will have an easier match.

    60/6.

Just as well the ICC reduced the size of the WC to prevent one-sided mismatches

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,494 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

136 all out. Despite the captain opener becoming only the second person ever in a WC match to carry his bat

SL all out for 136, gas isn't it. You'd have to think that as regards todays match and yesterdays, that we would have put in as good a shift as Pakistan or Sri Lanka. Saw the highlights last night - lot of fast short bowling, nicks and edges, misjudged shots. I suppose it makes a change from wickets where the batsmen can slaughter away but will the teams learn to cope and adapt.

A good wicket and match has a balance between bat and bowling. Is that there do you think? Is there too much advantage to the quick bowlers or is it just a matter of the batsmen changing their mindsets and strokes? Even when WI knocked off the runs, there were lots of dubious shots.

Looks that way alright but 'criminal' not to adapt and use up the 50 overs.

Bit early to write off AFG? That Rahmat Shah is a stylish batter. If he can keep the head, have partners and play the overs - they might make a decent score.
