Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    We are at the beginning of building our own house. It's a bungalow with attic space in the country (Something like attached). Out the back our kitchen/dining are is vaulted with exposed timber collar ties along the roof. There is also a mezzanine over the kitchen which could have a glazed balustrade/or timber.. We are not sure what colour windows to go for. Planners request woodgrain effect PVC but don't specify colour.

    We quite like the grey external frames but would this be too different internally with the timber collar ties? Is white dated internally? Is timber dated? I know we can go a different colour internally but just can't decide.

    I don't think white ever dates and goes with every colour you put on your internal walls, unlike fashionable colours of the time,,,

    Your window supplier will be able to make you windows with one colour on the outside and white/cream on the inside. It is more expensive to make windows that are two colours, but it's an option. Look at a colour called pebble, it is muted soft colour and gorgeous inside and out.

    Grey is a great colour for windows externally but can be a bit dark inside. Most window companies can specify an internal and an extrrnal colour so white is always a good bright colour to give an impression of maximum light and space inside

    Also interested in this. Building an extension and want to change all the windows. Like the grey as well but wonder if it will 1. Date, 2. Fade and 3. Limit paint colours.
    We currently have dark brown pvc which I hate. We'd such a job picking colours to do with the brown.
    We also have a part red brick facade at the front.
