Are there plans to resurface the road to a civilised standard and make good the damage - or is everyone happy with their sloppy work?

The road is in a shocking condition and is the main ambulance route to the hospital, seriously like only in Ireland!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 752 ✭✭✭jayboi

Probably waiting for the schools to go back before they resurface.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,624 ✭✭✭wmpdd3

They must be waiting until all work has been compleated before they resurface. Its like a country road out there.

The cycle lanes look like a DLS uniform, all grey and maroon stripes!

Some state of a road, iw's Digging campaign on behalf of the IMF didn't include making good the mess left behind
This is IMF strategy at its finest...

Yes and no. Given the figures released for IW this week (and the paltry level of "investment" since its inception, as opposed to what it has cost) it can be viewed as little else.

People need to acknowledge this for what it is - a repayment of a debt that is not Ireland's. And this is to the forefront. Water doesn't even enter into it.

    That isn't it at all.

It's about restructuring how the govt brings in money so that we're not solely reliant people spending money like we were during the boom.

If you're to be believe how Water is currently payed for, though VAT and Motor Tax, once people stop spending and or/driving then there's no money coming in to pay for it.

This has nothing to do with paying off banking debt.

If you are living in Happy cuckoo land alls grand imf and troica dont exist neither does corruption, state dirty secrets or turning your water tap to a trickle,
no need to explain what iw is really all about then...

Just because you keep saying it does not make it true. Yes there is corruption in the world, yes some people have hidden agendas, yes we all have things we would rather remain private, but that does not mean there is a hidden World order controlling us like puppets, it just means you are paranoid and deluded.

The traffic this morning was the worst I have ever seen!

It stretched from the Outer Ring road near the Halting site right up to the Ardkeen hospital and the whole way in the Dunmore Road!

Now they want to make the Road from the Outer Ring Road Roundabout at Farronshoneen to the Tesco Roundabout 1 lane as well as a trial!

So they are starting this trial "continental style roundabout" tomorrow
A trial layout will be installed on the roundabout at Tesco Ardkeen on the Outer Ring Road on Fri Nov 13th.
This trial is to test the impact on traffic of the introduction of a continential style roundabout at this location.
Contintental Style Roundabouts have a single lane entering from each approach, and the approaches are at right angles. These changes encourage slower vehicle speeds, so do make it easier for cars to enter the roundabout, due to the smaller gap in traffic needed at low speeds.
Continental style roundabouts are also safer for people who walk and cycle.
The trial will be removed on Saturday November 28th 2015

2 weeks won't hurt anyone and might improve things!

Continental style roundabouts are also safer for people who walk and cycle.

As someone who cycles around 160km a week making lanes on roundabouts narrower does not make them safer for cyclist. I often wonder if the people who come up with these ideas ever actual cycled around an urban area.

I do not understand their obsession with narrowing busy roads and junctions...the junction was fine no need to be messing around with it!!!

Will certainly make it interesting for ambulances coming from the outer ring road.

I was out there earlier and i dont know how its an improvement the traffic was backed up in every direction and that was early enough before the usual peak traffic times.

This new system is an absolute joke.I live on the Dunmore road and I will carefully taking other routes while this trial is going on. hopefully they're already seeing that this doesn't work. it was so bad the traffic was backed up everywhere.I reckon they should consider actually asking the ambulance drivers what they think of this.

The council are saying that this trial is at the request of the National Transport Authority and will be removed if is causing delays, seriously why put it at this roundabout when they know its going to cause more delays!
Waterford City and County Council say changes to the traffic layout at the roundabout at Tesco, Ardkeen was at the request of the National Transport Authority. The council were asked to participate in a trial of what are known as continental style roundabouts and the new layout was installed today. These have a single lane entering from each approach, at right angles which encourage slower speeds making it easier for cars to enter the roundabout. The trial period ends on Saturday November 28th but the council says it will be monitored daily and will be removed if it causes unacceptable delays. They say it will take a few days for a settled pattern to develop and they would welcome feedback from drivers on its facebook or twitter accounts.

Do you still think the same after the utter chaos today? Twenty minutes to get from outside Homebase to the exit to Tesco, and fifteen minutes from there to the hospital roundabout.

Tescos are going to lose out big time over the next couple of weeks. I hope they sue the corpo for every cent they've got.

How could anyone with grey matter between the ears not work out that when you reduce two lanes of traffic to one in three directions at a roundabout it's going to cause chaos?
