A Couple of Useful sites for people Taking up guitar

I was just looking around the wonderful net that we live in the other day and found some pretty interesting sites. Just said I would post them and people could use them at will. Maybe a sticky.
http://www.guitarlessonworld.com/ - Nice Simple Lessons goes through scales and all that.
http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/ - An excellent resource site on chords and scales. I am using this and Paperless Printer so put all the things onto my PSP for mobile chord sheets!
http://www.ibreathemusic.com/ - Haven't actually used this one but sure said I would throw it on anyway, looks to have some good articles.
http://www.zentao.com/guitar/ - Theory and stuff covered for basic and advanced.
http://guitargeek.com/ - Rig database so you can see how others set up.
Thats all I can find that I have saved the links for. People should feel free to add more stuff to this list.

Anybody looking to learn the guitar should take a look here.

It is a site for beginners and beyond and run by Kirk Lorange. It is free to join and you must join to view the lessons. I have been a member of this site now for the last year and learned lots from the contributors.

It is a very friendly site and i promise all questions (no matter how stupid you may think it is) will be answered.

this is excellent for beginners you will need broadband.He does great videos and he will help you to learn cool songs that you might not be able to figure out from a tab. very slow detailed lessons. look to the left and click on 'songs and tabs'

Been reading through the lessons on this site this morning.

It explains in a straight forward and easy to understand way how scales are formed.

It teaches you how to not only read sheet music but how it relates onto guitar. If your interested in learning theory, this provides an excellent base for your studies.

Here is an online bass and guitar tuner. It needs Flash and is a little awkward to use as you have to hover over the strings but I find it quite useful.

Here is a tool to help memorise the notes on the guitar fretboard. Flash is also required for this one.

Hands down the best guitar lessons you'll ever find on the internet.
Justin's method is easy, fun and really helpful for becoming a good guitarist. I've been playing guitar for over 3 years and I still regularly keep visiting his website cuz his lessons are just amazing to make you a good guitarist.

Especially his beginner lessons are exactly what every beginner needs to nail down the guitar basics and fundamentals.
I'ld say look nowhere else on the internet for guitar lessons cuz this guy is the best when it comes to teaching guitar!! Especially for the beginners.

I got a free 7 day subscription to Jamplay.com when I bought a Kyser capo and I found it very helpful. They had more tutorial videos than I could hope to get through, with good teachers in lots of genres.

Other than that, I would have to add my +1 to everyone recommending Ultimate Guitar.

YouTube is also great for lessons, some really good and some are just average.

You'll develop calluses soon enough, the more you play the harder the skin on your fingers will get! I've been playing 13 years and I mine still get a bit sensitive after a few hours of playing

I went to the Justin Guitar site very helpful,
I know the cords but putting them together is hard work.
Will keep on strumming ..

Ive found the vids really useful and am at the moment struggling F to B and back;)

Its costs a few quid for the year, about the same as a Dublin teacher for 4 lessons so if you look at it that way its not so bad!

kinda true, when i started playing i was a on/off practicer for 2 years(basiclly once in a blue moon) before i really got down to regular practise, the pain on the fingertips and fear of snapping strings can throw a load of people off regular playing

i owe the start of my playing to a few hour long lessons at my local collage for a tenner a lesson,
