Shadow, Smyths have the 4x4 for 125 at the moment.

None of the 2013 exclusives seem to be on Amazon yet, I'm still waiting on the X-Wing to pop up at a good price.

Wow! 129eu. Do they charge for delivery? I'll talk to misses tonight. Cheers bud!

I looked it up on the smyths website and there's not many places that have it. Of course, if you're buying online then it's not as big an issue.
I also laughed at the description. It says "some assembly required"

    :pac::pac::pac:

Shadow, I believe delivery is free if you spend over €50.

Lads, With lego.com when they say Ship date dec 16, do they mean they will ship it on that date or is it already shipped?

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,929 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

A lot of sets are retiring lads. Just have aloo and make sure you got the stuff you wanted.

Attack of the Wargs is being retired . I dont have it yet and I cant afford any more stuff this year. :(

There are some interesting sets there alright, I must take a stroll down to Smyths and the local Art and Hobbies to see if anything is discounted.

Here's the direct link for those that don't want to watch 7+ minutes of that lad saying pretty much the same thing a few times. That Brick Show is tough to watch. The YCF guy is much better, imo.

Lego's next Cuusoo set will be the Mars rover Curiosity, currently exploring the Red planet.

This set has been modified very little from the original winning submission. It contains about 300 pieces and will retail for around €30. This will be a must have for my collection!:)

Ah god dammit what a stupid day...

I am expecting my delivery from Lego.com Waited up until 15:00 and no sign. So I gone to town on business ( lego business too lol ). Came back home after 45min and got a note "sorry, we missed you!. To make it even worse the note was most likely written by a monkey as I cannot even figure out the deate of pick up on a note. Its like... not even numbers, but some sort of caveman drawings. I will try my luck buy poping in to depot at around 17:00, see where it will get me. I really hope I can pick it up today and not monday.

As for me lego trip in to town. I finally got some decent containers for Lego. 22eu in total. 3.5eu for smaller flat containers and 7.5eu for towers. I will try to get misses to pick up one more tower after work as she works 2 mins away from heatons.

I poped in in to a local toy shop. Its small, but has some lego. I have to say going inside the shop and seeing all those amazing boxes is so much cooler then buying stuff online :(. Its a shame prices are way higher then RRP as it is small local toy shop. I was surprised to see mk2 crane for 169.99eu though! If its not gone after holidays I will try to get it. :)

I'm going to wait till the new year before I make any big Lego purchases - but the Curiosity Mars Rover and the new Modular French restaurant will be top of my wish list.:)

I was really meh, when I found out about that rover.... Didnt we had already that Satellite yoke? There were way cooler projects.
The Restaurant does really look cool. Would be my first modular if I could afford to dip in to Modular world :(.

Lads, what would be your opinion on getting one of these things for filler bricks? I need a good amount of Red/Black/White bricks like that. Other colours would be a bonus. When I tried to get something decent in bricklinks, the price went through the roof! This on the other hand looks like a savage value. I know those are not fancy bricks, but I need those too. I got 15eu off with VIP points, so it would be perfect.

P.S. I picked up one of each of those boxes again. Looks like I took the last ones. :( all of them fit perfectly in the corner of my Mancave.

So, I got my containers that I wanted. I decided to finally take apart some of my display Technic sets for mocs. As much as I love them on display and "WOOOOOW" of people who see it for the first time, I think I will have a lot more fun with it if I will break it apart and make mocs! :pac:

I decided to take these apart. 4x4 and 8070 ar my favourite display pieces, but they are one of the best part sources for what I want. And I want RC cars! :p

    DSC_0180_zpsf03922bb.jpg

With all this broken up and a few parts I bought already last year, I will have:

    1x medium motor
    2x large motors
    2x xl large motors
    1x Servo
    2x controller
    2x IR receivers V2

It will take me few days to break it up I guess. Lotr movie is on and off I go for tonight! :o

Well, I had 2 busy evenings. In fairness, my fingers hurt at thisstage. Taking apart Technic sets is not very easy. you cant just throw it at tha wall and then pick up pieces. :pac:

Sort of hard to believe all this came out only from 3 sets... Now I put stuff the way it made sense to me and trying to maximise container space. Now it makes sense to me, but to any intellegent life form it will look stupid lol.

So hopefully I will start building stuff with it now.

Are the brick separators any use for Technic sets? I have a few spares, you're welcome to one if you want it.

How are they for separating small pieces, like 2 2x1's stuck together?

Technic sets are way more difficult taking apart then normal Lego. With normal Lego you can just break off slabs and then just shave off few pieces at the time. Technic sets are very strong structures and you need to look for weak points and take it apart piece by piece. Lots of beams and pins in crapy position. Really hard on your finger tips.
Brick separator is pretty much useless. It's only okay to take out some pins and beams from behind, but if you better of just using another beam to push out. Much more comfortable and easier due to shape.

Okay, but I found my little technique a bit more efficient.

I just take 2x of these bricks and put one on top and another one on bottom of two 2x1 stuck together.

    4113909.jpg

Then you just separate them, but dont push it too hard, it actually works better with less force you use.

I did not think much about that Lego movie, but I checked a few trailers and the actual sets and I am completely turned around. I am sort of looking forward to both now!

    Really like these ones:

Well lads. Do we expect good sales after xmas? Maybe some of the 2013 stuff will go on sale?

So far looks like Amazon is still in aftershock after xmas binge Lego buying, so I guess it will take some time for sales?
Smyths and Argos don't look too good so far too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,446 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

I was in Smyths earlier and they were barren, plenty of F1 cars and 4x4 Crawlers, nothing else Technic. Star Wars was similarly empty. I've a Smyths voucher that I'm eager to spend but at the moment there is nothing in there, I'll have to hold out, hopefully they will have something before March.

I guess we will have to wait for some sales, though maybe they will decide to shift those crawlers and f1. I would love to pick them for parts.

The Shop@Home sale has started, but it doesn't look great at all.

Three days later I'm still building my UCS R2D2. Loving it so far.
