Efforts to interfere with the elections in 2018 have actually increased since 2016 rather than dereased.

I guess something gives Russia the impression they are safe to continue.

It was said on CNN that the agreement the US and Russia has doesn't include China and that the Chinese can get a warfare advantage by not being in that treaty.
If Russia has violated it, then it should be proven, if China is the real reason, then the Chinese should be brought into discussions to get them into the treaty.

Yeah the British are doing a great job in encouraging Russia, with Russian interference in the Brexit referendum and by saying the subsequent result is the will of the people.

One of the biggest travesties of the Trump reign is that it is unlikely he will be alive to face any consequences.

Looks to be a new law in the works that will attack LGBTQ community, would allow for LGBTQ staff to be fired for their sexuality on religious grounds.

But he held up a flag so there will be a few that will still claim he's good on lgbtq issues...

Just to add to this piece of news, here's another clear and demonstrable attack on the LGBT community: this time the 'T' part in a floated proposition' to rollback protections during the Obama admin, and "... define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with"

    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/21/us/politics/transgender-trump-administration-sex-definition.html

The idea that this administration has any compassion or interest in maintaining - or indeed building upon - LGBT rights is not just false but downright farcical. And what few individuals from that community that might follow him can only be best described as Uncle Toms.

No cause you see I saw Trump with one of those LGBT flags before...

While the poster was probably referring to the Trump admin's utter lack of any sort of defensive preparation against Russian interference and indeed reacting angrily to any suggestion that the 2016 election was interfered with at all (and then saying it was rigged for Clinton), the UK political reaction to interference (completely ignoring it, refusing to investigate it and chanting "will of the people" like mindless robots) was no doubt encouraging too.

He's faced hardly any consequences for anything in his life. Bankrupt how many times? He's been divorced twice, so I suppose that's sort-of consquential for him.

Even if he's ever convicted of anything, he'll never serve time. I don't think he'll lose his secret service protection even if he's impeached and how could you imprison him in a prison? Maybe house arrest if he's found to be treasonous.

The most hurt that could be laid on him is to take the money and the TV cameras away. Won't happen, he'll end up a Fox commentator.

I'd like to see that theory tested as soon as possible.

The people who are going to carry the can for his antics are his children and Kushner - they are all up to their eyeballs in rampant corruption.

I've no problem with that. They know who they're dealing with. All of them are capable of distancing themselves from him, but they enjoy the high-life way too much. Don Jr. is very much like him, going through divorce now with 5 children after horndogging it around with the Fox news tootsie.

None of them is going to suffer, either. Too much $$ protecting them. The only consequence that'll matter is the loss of $$, that removes their protection and influence.

The recent revelations about the proposed new FBI building gives you an insight into how all of this will play out.

Trump, as an ex POTUS, will have access to many government and federal records which will give him unique inside knowledge of how to profit from any upcoming changes. The fact that he already did it whilst he was POTUS, shows that he is more that happy to use this information for his personal advantage. And the spotlight will have shifted away from him at that stage so he will be able to to it even more blatantly.

As was always a view of his entire run for POTUS, it was never about MAGA or particular policies. It was about getting the Trump brand out there even more, winning was not the aim, it was a nice bonus. Hence why is didn't have any transitional planning done and why Melania was not ready to move to DC.

The risk is that they crossed too many lines on the way and may end up getting burnt, but so far his supporters seem more than happy to let him away with any level of corruption and thus is it unlikely he will ever face the consequences.

My prediction is that after the midterms Mueller will come out with some more revelations which will set off a firestorm - with the bagman, Manafort and Cohen he's right up to Kushner and the children now, and maybe even The Don himself.

If there is no Blue Wave, and major stuff comes out with nothing being done about it, there is going to be a crisis in American politics.

So the DNC can't even get their own vote out yet you believe that they have organised 7000 foreigners to walk hundreds of miles with children to probably be refused entry at the border and/or have their children taken from them. All in a move which will only serve to fire up Trumps core supporters?

Even if that were true, how could you possibly class that as his biggest test?

It looks like the Trumper kids and Kushner are facing charges in state court - if they are convicted then Daddy can't pardon them.

Opinion poll released today from Vermont - Bernie Sanders is 41 points ahead of the Republican.

That's not really a surprise though? Bernie has consistently won that race comfortably.

So the latest moral panic over these migrant caravans coming across the Southern border has centred around Fox News insinuating there might be ISIS fighters lurking within the groups. This stems from comments from the Guatemalan president, Jimmy Morales, who said they had made 100 arrests & deportations relating to "...terrorist issues, with ISIS". With a bold cognitive leap that'd vault the Grand Canyon itself, commentators on Fox are now suggesting (in that practised "we're only asking questions" frame of discussion) terrorists might be lurking within the groups.

It's not even dog whistling at this stage, just full blown scaremongering out in the open.

Opinion poll released today from Vermont - Bernie Sanders is 41 points ahead of the Republican.

That's actually a dis-improvement over Sander's 2012 election result, when he took 71% of the vote, compared to Mc Govern (R) who got 25%. So that election had Bernie at a lead of 46 points...

Maybe that's why he's reportedly planning to change the law so that the president can pardon non-federal criminal actions and those charged under non-federal laws with same.

    No more conspiracy theories please.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.
