    Hi,
Am clearing out the old family home at the moment and came across this watch.
It's a bit battered but seems to work perfectly.
Would anyone have any idea of it's make and age, and if it's worth anything.
    Thanks, O29.

I'd reckon 1950's, early 1960's. Geneve were one of those general brands of "Swiss watch", nice timekeeper, looks like a gold plated case, wouldn't be worth much though. 50 quid kinda thing.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Thank you Wibbs.

It is gold plated - some has rubbed off. Age fits with my estimate. Knew it wouldn't have been worth much other than sentimental value but nice to know.

For me anyway, sentimental value is often the greatest.

Definitely. Spent twice what a watch was worth to get it back to perfect running order :)

For Seikos you need the serial and the movement number.

A photo of the back of the watch should show this.

Here is a good site for checking old Seikos

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but have gone demented trying to identify a watch found when going through the grandfather's old stuff. Any help to be had?

Looks like something from the Swatch Irony range but if it hasn't got toothed lugs it obviously isn't.

    Anything on the caseback?

Thanks for responding - sorry had meant to post up the caseback but forgot to photo it!

It has "Mondaine M7606.722", so I'd assumed I could use that to identify but none of the images in google match the logo on the front of this one.

I'm a complete amateur at this stuff, Wibbs and his band of experts will know far more.......

However, I wonder could this watch have been produced by Mondaine for a company, and the logo belongs to them? (White-label manufacturing.)

Did your grandfather work for a fairly large company, and could the watch have been a retirement gift or a long-service award?

Mondaine are a well-respected watch maker and the absence of their logo on the watch face seems curious...

I might be way off with this theory, but it could be worth asking family members etc for some background....

    BOL!

Does your phone camera have a macro mode. You'll need reasonable resolution in the image. Crop an image of the logo from the dial try a Google image search for the logo.
