Reliable Gearbox Specialist to fix Peugeot Boxer (Fiat Ducato!) 5th Gear Syndrome

Sadly I've lost my fifth gear on my 1999 Peugeot Boxer 1.9D camper van. A few mechanics and gearbox specialists told me that I need a new gearbox and a clutch kit, but from what I've read so far, this seems to be a cheaper fix. I called Peugeot Sandyford and asked them if they had the part, and they said that they can order it from England (Part No. 2344C9 if anyone needs). While I am looking for a reliable gearbox specialist or mechanic around Dublin, could you please tell me if you know any, and wether this 5th gear is the only part I need, or do I need synchro and other stuff that some have mentioned in similar threads?

    P. S. It's just passed the CVRT and while they were at it fixing stuff, I had them to fit a new clutch cable.

Don't know about Peugeot but from fiat it normally comes as a kit with gear and syncro. The 5th is on the outside of the box you don't need a specialist and it can be done with the box in the van although if your clutch is being changed you might as well do it on the bench. Most important thing is the correct oil fill after it's been done. Lots of 5th gear problems were due to lack of lubrication so fiat raised the recommended fill for most boxes.

Could you give me some more details on the oil fill and the whole thing please? Peugeot Boxers are the same as Fiat Ducatos in this case, so the fix is the same as far as I understand. Would this mean that the part #2344C9 would have the kit with the syncro inclusive?

And yes, the box doesn't need to come out, but I read people recommending having it done by a specialist for some reason. The thing is that all the mechanics I've seen have proposed the only option of replacing the whole gear box and clutch which doesn't seem to be necessary. So it must be someone who's familiar with this syndrome. Do you know anyone who'd do it without breaking the bank?
