Thought I’d bump this thread with Cheltenham starting tomorrow. Life is so much better for me without gambling. Actually saving money every week as opposed to losing it or winning it then losing it feels great. I’m currently saving for a deposit for a house and have a new baby that arrived a month ago. I probably would have had all this done years ago if it wasn’t for gambling which consumed my life, time and money. But I’m looking forward instead of back and the future is looking positive. It took a lot of work to get where I am today and it definitely wasn’t easy but it can be done with lots of help and support. The big thing is you really have to want to stop, for years I’d say I didn’t want this anymore, I’d try and stop but deep down despite the heartache it caused I loved the buzz too much. I’ll record Cheltenham tomorrow and watch it when I get home and enjoy it. I never thought I’d get to that point. Again if anyone is struggling please try and talk to someone, I know it is really hard but it gets easier. Drop a PM either, it is good to just let it all out even if it’s just over the internet.

Well done Johner. Fair play, great to hear these stories. I'm sure I speak for everyone on horse racing boards when I say we're all shocked someone had sex with you.

Hi lads just wondering could anyone help me with my gambling addiction it's really affecting me and those around me I'm betting between 3-700 a week I find I'm up one week and back down the next the fun has gone out of it for me I won 2200 the weekend but got no real satisfaction out of it compared to what I used to when I first start winning 50s and 100s from small money bets. It's getting to the point that I wont allow anyone into my sitting room when things are going well as I feel they would crow my bet I get quiet aggressive towards them when challenged and this is totally out of the norm for me how do I go about addressing this problem it's took a lot for me to reach out and I'd prefer if anyone had anything smart to say they keep it to themselves tia

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get the help you need. The OP did mention previously he was open to receiving PMs if anyone was struggling and he could give them advice.

Self excluding indefinitely from ALL your online accounts would be a start.
And delete all tipster twitter,Facebook etc feeds.

Do you have any triggers for gambling i.e. few pints, location, specific sport. If so get rid of them. If smart phone is a precursor move to a lower level nokia where you cant place bets, or read websites. Self exclude from chains, casinos, sites.

Don't watch the sports you gamble on if that's an issue, pick up a different hobby, Wish you luck.

Thanks for the advice guys have took a 6mth break from my bet365 account and Have deleted the paddy power app off my phone and unfollowed all tipsters/trainers on Twitter. Haven't done a bet since my post and to be honest it's been tough but I've not got close to putting one on I still have it in my head when I see a first goalscorer in a match and wonder what price he was and stuff like that. The funny thing is I'd never throw the kind of money on in a real bookies then I do online it's all to easy to press a button and throw 3 or 400 it's a much different scenario when the money is really in your hand I'd never dream of handing it over a counter. These online companies are a scourge. Has anyone been to any group sessions to discuss their addiction?

So you've done f...all serious.Six months will fly by,then you can treat yourself to a few small bets on 365,because you can handle it now.
And deleted pp off your phone. So not closed the account? That can easily be reinstalled when the itch returns.
Sorry to be harsh but self delusion is powerful amongst addicts.

Have now deleted my P.P account aswel I personally feel I'm making the correct steps as recommended above but I appreciate your blunt honesty I'm a very straight talker aswel so no need to apologise

Say you want to have a full erasure of your personal information under data protection. They have no requirements to hold on to your account (except your Id and address verification for aml. If they won’t make a complaint to data protection commissioner.

I definitely have an addiction to roulette but once triggers were eliminated it stopped. If online is a trigger then smartphones are an issue.

Yeah the smartphone has been the problem tbh but I do feel by deleting all my accounts and unfollowing all to do with Gambling then I'm not going to be tempted as much as I would have been before this. It's only throughout this lockdown that it's become a real issue usually I'd be out for pints and the like all weekend and because I'm not spending it on that its why I've been allowing myself to gamble far higher amounts of money but it really has become a serious addiction I've been betting on anything from football to table tennis with lads who look to be in their 50s and overweight .

I've deleted my email account that I've set it up with anyway so I'll never be able to access it again.

No matter how fun you find gambling, this activity can be addictive. Some people get obsessed with it due to financial issues, while others have inner problems and inclination to the addition of any kind. Anyway, as soon as casinos overshadow more important things in life, it’s time to reconsider your priorities.

I have researched this topic and can share some information about addiction reasons, signs and solutions.
You can find more information about help centres and organisations for IE players who suffer from gambling addiction.

Poor form to use this topic to promote your own site.

I agree with the above poster , poor form to direct someone to a gambling website. GA would have been more appropiate
