Does anybody know the price of the system 7 helmet? There doesn't seem to be any prices on the Motorrad dealer websites. Does anyone have any experience or opinions on them?

I believe Schuberth make the BMW helmets, as to how good they are it depends if it fits your head.
You need to try one on and wear it for a while, I would be more inclined to buy from a specialist helmet shop than a BMW dealer that may or may not have experience with helmets.
No doubt they are probably a good helmet but fit is everything!
Try Crossans in the North they are excellent helmet dealers and you don't pay VAT on helmets like in the ROI.

This is the most important part of buying a helmet. You can have a €1000 lid but if it doesn't fit properly you have wasted your money.

Also make sure that it's comfortable on your head by walking around the shop with it on. I bought a Shark lid and it put massive pressure on forehead after about 20 minutes to such an extent I disliked ridding. Got a Cerberg recently and it's a pleasure to ride again, it's a noisy helmet but that's forced me to wear ear plugs. I was walking around Cotters for half an hour with the lid on.

The used to, but I think the System 7 isn't.

As for the price here? I'm guessing somewhere around €650-700. Full retail in Germany is €595.

Thanks for the advice folks. I tried on a few Schuberth helmets at the weekend and I wasn’t all that impressed with them. I currently have an Arai which is fine but is getting old. I probably need to go in and try it for as long as I can in the shop but I feel like a tool standing around with a lid on inside. I read in a few places that the new System 7 was a good helmet but I would like opinions from people who are not getting ‘paid for them’

You'll feel a bigger tool spending hundreds for something that's a doorstop. As the System 7 is a flip front, I'd drink them dry of coffee whilst I was at it. :pac:

    ^^^^ Doin' it right!

I bought a Schuberth C3 Basic earlier this month. A couple of years ago I did try a load on and the C3 Pro was a tighter round the cheeks and a C4 was for a completely different headshape I thought. It was just too tight and the next size too loose.

My last lid was a cheapy LS2, going back I've had an Arai RX7XX, a BMW System 3, a couple of CTS.

One thing about the UK VAT rule is if you want comms gear, get it fitted with the helmet at purchase when it'll also be zero-rated.

The other thing is sometimes countries that charge VAT aren't much more than UK zero VAT prices.

Give the Nolan N100? and the Shoei Neotec a good look as well.

The System 7 isn't a flip front, I thought it was a removable chinbar to turn it into an open face helmet?
I have a Nolan N43E and it has a similar type of setup, I like the idea more than a flip up chinbar.
I have used a dessert spoon to carefully compress spots in helmets that apply too much pressure, go easy you only need tiny adjustments.

    It's a flip front

plus you can if you wish go further and remove the chinbar and turn it into an open-faced helmet. The old System 3 could do that, but you had to get the tools out to unbolt the chinbar.

Apparently the older System helmets were made by Schuberth but the 7 is completely BMW.
I’m not too fussed about the manufacturer as long as it’s comfortable and safe ( the old system 5 I had was 5* rated in the Sharp ratings) hence my reason for posting. I like the idea of having an open face option and I want the drop-down sun shade as well. These I won’t have with another Arai. I would like to try the Nolan as well but I don’t think anyone around stocks them. I will probably need to go up North for a day and take a look. I just like to hear people’s reasons for/against, opinions, experiences of what’s out there. Thanks for all the replies.

If you are considering Nolan, look out for X-lite as well as these are made by Nolan.
    Nice comfy helmets too.

I have no problem with buying a sub €200 helmet but the majority of helmets in this price range feel 'cheap' and don't feel nice if wearing them for a couple of hours. I find that a lot of cheaper helmets leak water as well and are generally draughty.
What I'm looking for is a comfortable, quiet, well fitting helmet preferably with a drop down dark sun shield and well sealed against the elements.
