Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Saw a post on Facebook from Maurice Gleeson and it's possible that the Genetic Genealogy component of BTOP won't be in Dublin this year. He was asking people to hold off booking flights for a while yet.

    I had wondered given the proximity of Rootstech in London (which is on OUR bank holiday weekend).

    Maurice Gleeson’s lectures always are very worthwhile (i.e. understandable!).

    Losing the Genetic Genealogy lectures will be a considerable disincentive for the more dedicated geno attendees at BTOP. Not much point in going just to see a few stands - only the 60+ people on the free pass will bother to put their heads in - why bother if you have a sub to FMP or Ancestry?
    The Irish Genealogical Research Society always has a Genetic-themed lecture in the autumn - that would be very worthwhile for those interested in genetic genealogy and entry is open to non-members. Keep us posted please.

    Lectures were great but held in a too-small, stuffy room and next-to impossible to see slide presentations. But even that was an improvement from when they were held in partitioned-off sections of the main floor where presenters tried to be heard over noise from outside.

    Further update from Maurice: they will be there on Friday/Saturday but looks like no lectures on the Sunday.
