About 34.3 mm in my station in Cork City. While below average, The temperture is almost a full degree below average and its been grey skies for the majority of july. Makes the sun days more enjoyable though! (Doesn't stop the complaints from relatives though! :P )

All the same, I imagine the 20-30mm soil moisture deficits being mentioned for your neck of the woods 8 days ago have been eliminated.

We had a weather warning for rain the other day in Kilkenny and not much fell.
The rain yesterday and last night was the heaviest rain in months, around 15mm to 20mm fell.

The 187.9mm for Newport in July coupled with the 164.5mm for June has brought it up to 352mm for the Summer so far.

Even with an exceptionally dry April & May Newport has still recorded 26.7% more rainfall than this time last year at 1093.3mm.

I'm still waiting to see where Dunsany finished up for July, Met Eireann's page has been stuck on 27th of July for nearly a week and doesn't appear to have updated since. No doubt the total for July is well north of 100mm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,721 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Kilkenny was probably one of the driest places in the country for July, nothing exceptional in terms of rainfall.
I think the hills surrounding the county did a blocking job for a lot of the rain.

You had 130.9mm which would make it your wettest July since 2009 (163.4mm).

just saw this now and the website is back up to date. Indeed July was an absolute dire month here in Meath with rainfall 200% above average and the overall mean temperature a degree below average.

As for August we are currently sitting at 12.4mm and the mean temperature is already well up on July's values, currently at 15.1C. I'm not expecting much rain over the next 7 to 10 days other than showers and temperatures high teens to low twenties throughout much of the first half of August. A definite improvement already over that awful July and poor June.
