No land based wind warnings ( Marine Gale warnings in effect from later tonight ) but still notably strong for the time of year. Strong winds will develop tomorrow afternoon sweeping into the SW, W, NW and remain blustery into Monday AM . Gusts up around 80 km/h on coasts in the SW, 90 to 100km/h in the W and NW, perhaps a bit higher for a short time. Mostly a coastal situation but still gusty overland also.

ICON 15Z looks quite strong, overdoes it a bit sometimes but still probably meeting Yellow Weather Advisory in W and NW coastal counties, especially with trees so laden with leaves and with the caravan parks full being summer and a bank holiday weekend. A lot of festivals this weekend also Im sure up along the W and NW would need to mind tents , exhibits etc.

ICON's latest run is tracking much further South than earlier runs and is showing the strongest winds but this is often the case and does not always reach the wind speed it predicts.

Of late there have been a couple of events where winds predicted by the models fell well short of expected speeds, especially with gusts. Will be interesting to see how they cope with this Lp.

I am wondering will the Jet over Ireland tomorrow might still have a bit more influence on this LP in possibly increasing wind speeds yet.

Checking in from offshore where there were fresh to strong breezes yesterday that ripened and increased in strength and volume overnight. as in the marine warning that speaks of "coastal" waters .

We were very lucky to get the weekly supply ferry this week. unusual for this time of year.

Early June and gale or strong gale....,

Even my stalwart cats are not seeking out,

I just can't believe this horrendous weather in June, it's like the middle of November. To think that this time last year we were basking in a heatwave. Could you possibly get a worse June bank holiday weekend than this? I demand a refund.

Sometimes our weather is like someone pressed a button to take the pi$$

Its June lets press the lashing rain freezing button or its December lets press the your grass is growing mow the lawn button.

last night was as bad as anything last winter.... BAD! Was hoping that as the forecast originally said, it would ease around 7 pm but just before that it intensified. Dwelling shaking, wind roaring.

Still high winds out here now and deluges... sleep deprivation setting in. :eek:

Of course, we only use the term " summer" here in met office terms. Summer is when the good weather comes. may be "officially " summer here but it is not really summer.

The new forecast is not up yet but looking ahead at least the winds will change and ease....

lol...If you think Ireland is bad, go and live in the North Sea for a decade. :eek:

Which is probably why I don;t mind it here... no comparison. And add that in winter barely 4 hours daylight, 124 miles an hour gales...

But this is bad for June.

Interesting that the models all over predicted the wind speeds yesterday. Highest gusts 86 km/h.

Rainfall amounts seemed to be down also.

Met Eireann had held off until Sunday 13.00 before issuing a Yellow advisory but the high winds never materialized.

Just had a thought.

I lived up in outer Orkney many years, even windier than here.

Every year there would be a bad storm end of May very early June. It would destroy new plants, sweep seabird nestlings off cliffs.
They called it " the gab of May"

Exactly what we had yesterday .
