The Irish In America

An article just got put up on buzzfeed on the Irish moving to america. Not entirely sure this is the place to put it so I offer it up to the mods. But it seems to click with both Irish history and genealogy.
Perhaps After Hours would be a better place?
Famine Irish and Trump? Several egregious errors in the article - the Homeland boss McAleeney could not have a 'father' who was a Famine migrant. The blight genome was sequenced in 2011, not 3 years ago, which was the date when it was +/- concluded that the blight virus was the HERB-1 and not, as previously understood, the US-1 strain. There is no supporting evidence for other claims - e.g. arrival of blight in Europe was via the Netherland; no mention of the widespread use of guano from Chile as a possible carrier/propagator.
Much is made of an Irish Indo article referencing the ‘Alt- Irish’ – the basis for that is dated and very tenuous, e.g. several ‘names’ have resigned / been fired. At the time of writing the article Bannon was gone, as was Flynn; Linda McMahon has an Irish name due to marriage, Whatever bit of genetic Irish decency KellyAnne Conway (nee Fitzpatrick) originally had is long bred out of her line, her prostitution of the truth is horrific – just google her ‘Bowling Green Massacre’ comments. Together with her (also referenced) side-kick, Sean Spicer (who claims he is Irish because he likes drink and people) were the creators of ‘Alternative facts’. VP Mike Pence is one quarter Irish due to a grandfather from Sligo. If that is the green jersey I want to be Nigerian.
The writer is using Famine Irish immigrants to have a pop at Trump’s immigration policy. There are many more and better grounds for doing so, like two of his three wives, most of his ‘bits on the side’, his criminal German grandfather and his Scottish islander mother.
Lazy article, I’d give it a C-, or a D. Could do much better.

I don't agree with the narrative that you can't support Trump because of your ancestry, people use the complete opposite narrative when we discuss mixed marriages between Catholic and Protestants, they say you should ignore what your ancestors did, so you shouldn't think about your ancestors when deciding what politician to support either.
