Way to cause a silly panic via a national newspaper who should have known better "Children at Risk in Ireland’s clinical director, Dr Niall Muldoon".

This article is recycled from UK papers with Dr. Muldoon foolish enough to give it credibility in an Irish context.

At least the Uk reports do seem to be based on actual evidence (however reliable) and as such SHOULD be a real cause for concern in the UK.

But to casually assume the same is happening here is silly.

Porn doesn't normalise vile acts such as child molestation.. it's bizarre to suggest that it does.

What's bizarre about it? When you have children able to access the most hardcore crap available, at times from a mobile phone, you don't think that has any affect on how they view the world?..and in particular sexuality?
Dr Muldoon said young girls in Ireland are also being gang-raped by boys their own age.

Case not long ago of a young teenage girl in Kildare who was gangraped by other teens.

Not to mention the girl from cork at the party with the coke bottle.

This is rife in the UK especially around the big Cities. Nothing is done as the Police are feared of being branded as Racists.
Yes I blame it on the Media and the role models what Society is churning out.

Maybe if people spent time with their kids they wouldnt crave attention so much they want it off a gang of boys , might work .
Could try teach them a bit of self worth and that sort of stuff. Young girls arnt hanging around street corners getting spitroasted because their parents are spending too much time with them thats for sure.

Young girls and lads around this age have been caught in similar positions in my small town. It's not gang related or anything but kids of that age are doing these things and there's no talk of the girls being forced into doing it. It's not gang related or confined to cities and I'd accuse lady gaga of being more responsible for it than porn.

are you just throwing that out there to provoke argument,or do you seriously believe a pop singer is responsible for all these gang rapes?

Why are people getting outraged at an opinion piece?

This is the journalistic equivalent of a Joe Duffy caller. One of those ones you just know has horrible opinions about everything and is just aching for an opportunity to spout them.

The fabric of society is tearing apart!

    WHY?

    WHY? You ask me WHY?

Sex! Drugs! Fúcking video games! Popular music! Television! FORIDNERS! The EU!

No that's some leap to make, I'm saying her and the likes of her are contributing more to the corruption of youth than porn. There's very few female pop stars that don't have highly sexualised lyrics and videos.

Although its hard to know what is normal behaviour. Women are coming out of centuries of oppression maybe we're just shocked by female sexuality. There's also the obvious break down of community which I think leads directly into these kind of problems.

Remember when Marilyn Manson and Mortal Kombat were responsible for everything wrong in the world?

    Memories.....

The institutional cover up of paedophile rings in the UK is beyond disgusting. I feel that the true extent of how these gangs have been operating over the last few decades has yet to been exposed properly.

In the UK its mainly down to a certain section of Society. Most of the 'Groomers' are Muslim im afraid and before I hear the word Racist, just check it out on the UK Media sites. Mainly Pakistani men
Its down to Religion and Culture from this particular group.
In Islam all Muslim's are considered pure. Hence any associations with non Muslims are considered un pure.
Hence grooming of a non Muslim girl does not count as a sin in Islam.

Not all Muslims are like this and friends of mine in the Middle East would quite happly castrate a Nonce.

Role models such as Gaga, Rhiana and such do not help. In my day a role model would have been a Doctor or a Vet, certainly not what we have these days.

Look the whole thing up, it's a massive issue in parts of England and is being ignored/covered up by different levels of government and law enforcement.

I dont think popstars alone are to blame, ask the 11 year old girl and the group of boys themselves what they listen to,i doubt a gang of boys who did the gang bang listen to lady gaga..very uncool

I wouldnt agree that popstars have more of a negative impact than porn stars, and the things children can watch on the internet alone unsupervised are limitless, thats the problem right there, its this type of media that has them sucked into sexuality(and a negative very biased sexuality) at a very young age,and it is not nessecarily reflective of sexuality they will be introduced to at a later(hopefully late teens early twenties) stage of life..

I agree it is a community breakdown, media takes centre stage, even teaches values to young children that should get them from the wider family unit and neighbours instead, but it doesnt..

I think there is a definate void there in peoples lives, were either too busy or we dont really care..

Can't even have the radio on in the car anymore for fear of hearing stories like this broadcast at the most inappropriate times. For our society this behavior is losing its shock value for shure!

It's not just gang activity that these sex acts are part of. I have heard from some of my friends teenage daughters of what some of the girls are getting up to.
    Seriously curl your hair:eek:

And we are not just talking about the local "bike" here.
Some of the sex games the are at are sickening and involve girls as young as 12:(

Totally agree. MTV is like a porn channel. Couple this with shows like jordie shore - tallafornia etc. vulgar is not the word. I have watched them all! im an adult. they see these people with the sole aim of getting laid.

These kids of both sexes have no boundaries. They do as they please when they please. it's well established that kids act out for attention.

    Internet porn - Hardly.

    Disgraceful tbh.

What sort of parents do they have?

Are they not being taught that they have to wait till they are at least 15 minimum?

And after that getting lost out of theirs heads on alcohol in most pubs and clubs is only acceptable?

    I weep for them :/

2 14yr old girls pregnant at the moment in my town. Just watch these young girls and the provocative manner in which they go to local youth discos. How do their parents let them out like that? Both fathers are 13 and 14 too.

Funny how you seem to open most of your posts with how you're not a racist but then reveal how muslims should be blamed for it. I'm assuming by having 1971 one in you're username, that would mean that's the year you were born. And you're telling me that there were no controversial musicians that young people practically worshipped? :pac: Instead ye were inspired by vets......

The story seems to be rather unsubstantiated anyway...

what do you mean internet porn hardly, its a huge problem in the US and they are still discussing censorship because there are kids acting out, they think everybodys having sex like that, why do kids videotape sex scenes in public, where do you think they get that idea?

yeah i agree MTV is another problem of its own,the standard of behaviour is getting locked, and getting laid, spraying on fake tan and cursing every two seconds or using some unintelligible language, and thats seen as the appropriate way to act..

Reminds me of the ballymun video where a group of lads taped themselves shagging some girl

Was that the one that one of those guys got murdered over?

Anyway do parents not know where or what their kids are up to anymore!!! my mother followed me around up until I was 14.
