I have a freezer drawer full. It's not bad film, particularly for €1.50

Especially if you need to test a few new/mended cameras, handy.

Some class mates asked me to get them some if I seen it in the shop (it very rarely stocks it, and it sells out fast) so I actually have 20 in my possession which I still need to give to them. So many boxes. :o

I've seen a few YouTube vids of people scanning negatives using a camera and iPad as a light box, anyone ever tried this?

I seen a girl in my old class doing this but just using a DSLR to take high quality images of the negatives then inverting and editing in photoshop.
They turned out okay, not professional standard but hers seemed fine for what she needed.

I've been sending my film out to ge developed and scanned, the scans I'm getting back seem to be very low quality jpg, was gonna try this process to get better quality plus the files would be raw rather than jpg.

i don't think that'd be as much of a benefit when photographing negatives; as the light has already been flattened somewhat in the original exposure. plus, you'd be wanting a nice uniform light source when duping.

Given a nice uniform light source and a good flatfield macro lens or similar I'd say it'd probably be a good method of doing it. Negatives for sure, you'd be able to get entire range into a digital shot I'd imagine.

I used to do it before I bought a scanner. I used a reversed (a very cheap way to get a serviceable macro) 28mm CCTV lens to take multiple shots (9, I think) and then stitched them together with Microsoft ICE.

For a backlight I used my phone on max brightness which a white background. I tried using an iPad but the DPI wasn't high enough which led to images having a screen door effect.

It took a very long time to process even 1 image, and the results aren't perfect. Vignetting was on the neg btw.

I'd recommend just buying a dedicated scanner, your time is precious.

    Trying b&w on my agat

Local beach to me, always has this one boat that looks like it is floating on the horizon, and very few people (when it was winter as these images are from a few months ago now).
So yeah, this has a deep feeling of "that is the beach to me".

Got a cheap film scanner, still tweaking the controls, some images seem very grainy but I get what I pay for.

i have a flatbed scanner that takes film, which is free to a good home - it's not a bad beast, main issue is that the software which canon bundled with it is not worth the CD it was printed on. does much better with decent software. canoscan 9000f; works with Win7, can't say for certain if it works with a newer OS. if anyone wants it, PM me, and i'll try to A) find the transformer for it and B) confirm it powers on.

I would snap it up if it was likely to work on the newer OS, hope you find someone for it Magic.

If it works with 7 it will almost certainly work with 8/8.1/10. If nothing else it should work in compatibility mode.
