Definately MTB, you'd climb up no bother on a gravel bike, but coming back down via the trails (especially the upper trails) would be very challenging.

Plenty of gravel roads in that area for gravel biking though.

Did some off-piste exploring in Ballyhoura today. Have an even greater admiration for the enduro lunatics riders who actually cycle these.

Certainly beyond the abilities of my XC bike, or my own meagre skills. Perhaps some day, on a different bike ;)

Not saying never, just not today when I was on my own on an XC hardtail ;)

I'll bring the buddies up there and they can show me how it should be done :D

Just a regular S8. Rocks were let up by my helmet light.

Was very pleased with it myself!

Was down in Killarney today. Had fun discovering what's around there, was nice to experience more technical natural trials. I'll be saving a few for when the experience builds up.

Having not cycled for 10+ years I decided to buy a bike.
Didn't want a pure mountain bike because I planned on doing a lot of road cycling, but also wanted something that could handle offroad too.

I know sweet FA about bikes, but I went with a scott sub cross 30 and have to say I was impressed with how easy this thing is to cycle. And did some really steep hills and mud/water on farm lanes with it.

There's no mountain bike tracks in this county that I'm aware of, nearest being about a 90 minute drive and I didn't buy a bike to drive it places.

But there's plenty of ****ty backroads and farm lanes zig zagging between.

    Did 8km no bother!

Read conflicting things about having the lock suspension but it came in handy for when things got really rough.

Either way I got the cycling bug now :) time will tell as to how good a hybrid will be but it seems like the perfect all round bike for me.

Also I know it's not technically mountain biking, but I have to start somewhere.

It's more so for adventuring and rambling when the weather gets better. I love wandering off to the backarse of nowhere and enjoying nature.

I have many big plans for the summer.
