Can someone recommend an alternative to the powerbeats pro (a cheaper version or Chinese version)? I've a lot of cauliflower ear so can't wear in ear headphones and don't want over/on ear ones for the gym.

I've got a pair of powerbeats 3 at the moment but the battery is shot.
They are pretty much an in-ear earbud with an earhook built on.

But if you look up B10 sports Bluetooth earphones, you will find plenty of clone types

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000359878018.html

They vary in price so best to read the reviews. Like the i10, i7s etc.. There will be many variants of each version, so even the same name is not any guarantee, the seller is the best option.

Those two linked get decent reviews, but are already different to when they initially came out. For example the digital display has been moved back or removed.

(They were forced to make some changes to the case and style/colour to stop them being clones/fakes).

These are like the original ones that came out. But they may not be as good soundwise as the new ones -

There will be plenty of them on DHGate too.

Just an update. This hasnt happened to me since. I wear them daily for the commute each way for an hour / 1.5 hrs and have had no pop since.

Do the soundcores fit completely over the ears, or do they sit on the ear?

Think I may pull the trigger on those for work, even though its at the normal price rather than the deal you got.

I haven't got a pair of these yet, I am after reading a few reviews of people that have had them for 15 days or longer, so I am reading between the manufacturers details and the reviews. I purchased a pair on the back of the reviews.

The Blitzwolf newest gen of the FYE range has been released and getting good reviews.
    The BlitzWolf long handle BW-FYE8.
They are available from all amazons with a discount under all of the listings, but none of them ship to Ireland, so require PW/PM/AP/PC.
So I have ordered a set of them from Banggood using a code to drop the price and includes a 'free gift' pair of BlitzWolf BW-ES3 3.5mm wired earphones (worth about €3). The code is BGBWFYE8 which drops the price to €35.81 with Tariff Insurance selected and Shipping Insurance unselected.

Blitzwolf promised a new chipset with support for apt-XM, CVC, DSP and independent connection of the headphones, which should significantly improve the quality of communication. Two drivers with graphene membranes feed a 40mAh battery, battery life is claimed up to 5 hours when listening to music.

According to the test reviews the FYE8 have a similar range to the FYE4, but better. They are dual sync earphones, they can connect independently as in the picture)
    GM8Fp9y.jpg?1
I'm not sure how that works, because the phone can only be connected to one device at a time for playback. But apparently it does.
From one of the test reviews:
"if you leave the left earphone in the signal reception area and leave with the right one, the connection is interrupted at the same place it was interrupted when using a pair, while the left one also loses connectivity. But if you leave the right one in the reception area, you can still go the same distance with the left one without losing communication, which means that it acts as a transmitter and is the main one. But in any case, the coverage is greater than that of the previous headphones in this series."

    Also from the tests:
"At 75-80% volume, a single charge was enough to listen to music from 18:05 to 00:15, which is slightly more than 5½ hours, which is more than stated, but perhaps the manufacturer did the calculation for full volume.
It takes roughly an hour to fully charge the earphones in the carrying case.
The case charges the headphones four times, but the last charge will probably not be complete.
The capacity of its battery is as claimed, the charge process for the case is about 4 hours."

A few highlights grabbed from different reviews to summarise:
    Pros:
"Excellent communication coverage, I live in a small average house, I realised a couple of times that I left the phone in the car only when I entered the main room. More impressive, the headphones separate from each other can also be attributed to a decent distance. After losing one connection, the phone automatically pairs with the second."
"A comfortable fit, though I had to install the largest sizes from the set, they are similar on the outside to those that came with the FYE7, but they were softer and therefore did not sit very tight in the ear canal."
"Good battery life, five hours working for me at a comfortable volume level of 60-70%, so it turns out closer to six, which is currently a record in the Blitzwolf FYE line."
"Pretty loud. Those who complained that the FYE6 did not reach the desired level, FYE8 should satisfy you."

    Cons:
"There is no indication of the remaining charge on the case while the headphones are charging, ideally it should be possible to highlight the extreme changes with a different color and display the main charge in white in the process."

Another update on the Soundcore Q20 - The pop came back yesterday. The only thing i did was recharge them fully. I will monitor and see if the pop disappears as the battery gets lower and then again when I fully recharge them.

I got this case for them and they fit/mold perfectly inside it. Nice and snug and no room for it to move in the case.

Bought a pair back in November, I find that they stay in my ears better than the i4's (I use them at work) though the bass is not as good as the i4's. They are touch control rather than button control which may take a little bit of getting used to. For the price quoted in your link I think they are well worth it.

I've deleted the whole post above, only wanted to delete my reply to the wrong quote . sorry.
a poster asked about the tiso i6's
I got them as i was so happy with the tiso i5's i thought this could only be a slight improvement. my humble opinion , big step backwards. Battery life is less than half than the i5's (which were 5 or more hours) . Right ear is way louder than the left. yes instant and independent connect to phone is handy but the backwards steps far outweigh the forwards one. buy i5 if still available. they are great

So my work Tiso I4s have had the left button pad/cover completely fall off now, and was stuck to my shirt for a while before I noticed it, so gonna clean off the iffy adhesive and try to stick it down with something better.

For home, I got the Soundcore Q20 headphones yesterday and I find them very comfortable. I havent noticed the "popping" sound that brightkane has suffered, but I don't use the ANC while on the move.

They sound good, and a little more base than the Sony WH-CH700N that I got for my wife, which I have used on and off. Need a good few hours use to get the feel for them and properly try the ANC on them too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,716 ✭✭✭brightkane

I used the Q20 today on a very loud stobart propeller plane flight to the UK. They were excellent. The popping has stopped also. It appears to only happen when the battery is fully charged ?!

I think Basq posted about the bass previously and if you press the middle button on the right ear twice it turns off some bass and back on again. I could be wrong but its something like that.

I bought these, didn't expect much from them, I saw them linked somewhere, not sure exactly where.
When they arrived, they didn't work. At all. :D
The earbuds themselves are very big anyway, so not sure that they would have been comfortable. They look decent, feel cheap. The battery is in the earpiece itself, so I am sure these are easily repairable, the board seems to work without issue.

    But....
The box arrived (unbelievably well packaged for the price.) in a decent timeframe (that may change with coronavirus).
In the box there is a headphone case, 3 pairs of replacement bud tips, coloured (yellow - small, blue - medium, green - large), and two pairs of earhooks along with a usb charging cable.
For the price, if you are looking for a couple of earhooks, a case and some replacement tips, it's hard to fault them.
Even better if you get a pair that work.
There are only 6 reviews on the page, but they all seem happy enough :)
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32836688508.html

Everything that came in it. For €1.90, The earhooks and case alone are worth it.

Easiest answer is that the best value are probably the 2nd gen h1 chip.
Not necessarily from that seller, I just picked them at random. Best to check out price and seller reviews. Normally around €23 for gen 2 (rename and gps).
