Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

"Mark This Forum Read" not working

    This has happened to me before, and it resolved itself. But it's really bugging me today. Under Forum Tools, when I select "Mark This Forum Read", I have to do it five or six times before it works, and even then, a few minutes later, the same old threads are highlighted as not read. It's not that I'm crossing with new posts; nothing has been posted since I tried it the last time.

    It's mostly in Personal Issues (and RI) that this is happening (this is where it happened before), and it isn't because of subforums, either.

    It also happens with Feedback

    I thought I fixed this by unfollowing and then re-following the forum.

    But then as soon as I went into another forum, PI showed up as having unread posts again.

    OK, sorry if I'm being a nuisance, but logging off and logging back on again seems to have fixed this for now. But it has happened before (some months back), so I guess it's resolved for now, but it could happen again?

    I think I have a theory about what the problem is. Those forums you mentioned allow anonymous posting and when an anon post is made, it waits in a state called "Awaiting Approval" and only the mods can see it (so they can approve/deny it for public view). However, you obviously can't see those threads as you're not a mod of the forum, but maybe the read/unread functionality is getting confused about them.

    I'll log it as a bug and see what we can find out.

    OK, thanks Dav. That seems like a possibility, alright. It seems to be okay at the moment, but every so often it comes back.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
