Broadband without a landline?

    Hey guys,

Considering getting broadband into our apartment, but we don't have a landline..

We currently have a Telstra mobile wi-fi device, a pay as you go one but it just eats up your data when you try to download anything or watch anything on YouTube etc..

I've heard of Naked ADSL, is this broadband without a landline?

We're looking for a cheap enough package, can anyone make any suggestions?

We're based in Morningside in Brisbane, thanks :)!

I'm with optus $60 a month for 120Gb of data, speeds are pretty poor, but that us Australia in general
I can get up to 1Mb/s

I thought that naked broadband was internet without a connected phone line but was still provided over the "empty" phone infrastructure.
ie, the building still needed to be wired for a phone line.

I read it that the OP didn't have an access point in the wall, as opposed to not wanting to pay for one.

*I could easily be wrong here on both counts.

    Hey Mellor,

Our building is wired for a phone line and we do have an empty phone port.

Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself properly.

Yeah that's right, you are right, the link I gave him is for cable, rather than ASDL

I might look into ASDL myself

Ah ok. I just read it wrong.
My previous apartment wasn't wired and was assuming you were in the same spot.

Naked DSL is just a phone line being used for DSL only i.e. there's no dial tone or voice service connected to it.

I'm surprised looking at that link at what bad value that is compared to Europe, the US, or actually most of the developed world!

http://broadbandguide.com.au/ - seems to do a good comparison.
