Ok, I'm thinking this should have been an orange warning - the rain is insane in Cork City! It's been non stop since about 7 last night

The same ME that issued a yellow alert for rainfall in Cork and Kerry yesterday and mentioned the risk of flooding in the South West - particularly in Kerry - on the 9 o'clock news last night and the 07.55 radio forecast this morning?

    Completely incompetent right enough.

Why didn’t met eireann flag this awful weather clearly ???

The annoying thing is They have made a song and dance over weather much less severe than today.

It’s almost as if certain forecasters either couldn’t be bothered or genuinely can’t call severe weather events.

As others have said earlier in the thread sorry but this is incompetence on ME’s behalf.

They do a song and dance over mild yellow Alerts yet very very little about a day like today ????

Well they did issue warnings and the day was as they predicted: A total wash-out.
Here in SW Mayo near Westport I recorded 46,3 mm since midnight, and the strongest gust of wind was 37.2 knots.
The good news is that it is beginning to clear now and the rain has stopped.

    Fair enough.

In its defence, ME's job is to look at the big picture and they did specifically mention the danger of localised spot flooding in the South West from Tuesday night through Wednesday.
