As of this morning he’s out, misses out on the IAAF rule of allowing each federation enter an athlete who haven’t ran the qualifying time. So athletes from Oman, UAE, East Timor, Andorra make the trip even though they are considerably slower than English.

This rule has existed for years. It's to ensure every nation is involved in the championships. Its just unfortunate for Mark that so many picked the 800m. Usually its the 100m that non qualified nations choose.

Nick Willis has missed out for the same reason.

Unfortunately that's the risk with missing the qualification standard.

Wasn’t having a pop at the rule, just unfortunate he’s missed out on the Worlds. All for the inclusion of smaller nations running to experience the atmosphere of a major championships.

If you can't hit the qualifying time and your not an young athelete with potential, then you shouldn't be going.

Personally i would prefer the worlds to be the best of the best in the world, ie the top 40 fastest athletes only, no limit on countries entries.

    Olympics be country base.

Olympic marathon would have 70 kenyans in it so.

What stop there. Why not allow USA field 3 teams in basketball, allow Brazil field a few football teams....

According to this he is still in the top 48 and hols a provisional qualifying spot even with the add ons. He could still get a call up over the weekend

Also on the IAAF provisional qualifying list there are 4 GBR and 4 USA listed as qualifying when the limit is 3 per country.

    Its a tad confusing

As with the IAAF, they never make it easy to understand the process!!
