Hey all, so what Im looking for is a nice quiet-ish pool in or around castletroy that you don't need a membership to use. Any ideas?
    Cheers.

The UL Sports Arena pool is open to the public, not sure it is very quiet though as it is popular.

The JJB Sports gym have a pool too afaik but I'm not sure if you need to be a member to use it.

The only other one I can think of is St Enda's up on the Old Cork Road.

Thumbs for the UL arena, it's definitely the best in town.;)

Well I was looking for pools other than UL, sorry I should have said that. Thanks though

Have you tried the one in the Castletroy Park Hotel? I know non-residents of the hotel can use it but I don't know if it's members only?

Does it have to be Castletroy? There is one in Grove Island (Corbally???) that doesn't require membership.

was a member of the one at jjb's last summer, don't think I ever seen any non members in the pool though but I remember something like being able to bring a guest

But if your looking for a nice quiet pool then jjb's is great

Don't bring a small child to UL for a splash around - there's no children's pool and the water temperature is not suitable for children as its set to economy, ie. freezing. Basically if they are too young to swim and warm themselves up then they will be a crying miserable wreck after 4.5 minutes and you'll be forced right back into the changing rooms......

    - I was also once allowed to pay in there for a 3 minute swim and then kicked out cause they had swimming lessons/training. Students, good at cider, making noodles......bad at life......

The Greenhills is members only but they do have a special offer on at the moment. Get 4 months membership for the price of 3. And you can also use it as a guest if you come along with a member.

Can be busy, can be quiet, depending on when you go. Its very busy from about 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

There are kids swimming lessons on Monday and Thursday afternoons so its not the best then. The pool is warm most of the time, there's a nice jacuzzi, steam room and sauna and the price also includes use of the gym

best pool in town is in punches, but members only. Its so classy tho. Love it.
Actually its something Ireland as a whole is losing, the communal swimming pool. Nowadays its ALL Gyms and you have to be a member. Pain in the arse. UL being the exception but i hate that pool. you cant "relax" in there.
I dont think there are any other pay as you go pools which is a crying shame
    Seriously......i'm crying...

I was out at the UL pool for an hour yesterday, was not wearing a hat and all went fine. Plenty of others going hat-less too.
Limerick Dude will back me up on this.
