    It's happened.
The people. with no negociating skills have been thrown out.
UK will leave EU with a withdrawal agreement.
UK has thrown DUP under the bus.

UK will sell it as ... NI to UK ... no customs
    NI to ROI... no customs.
    That's the sell .. sell.
Obviously, there has to be a border between EU and non EU countries. But the words will be changed (no backstop) and blah blah. DUP will be shown as idiots and of course increase their support up in loopyland.

    So far, nothing has happened!

Not sure the reasoning behind this thread. All of the evidence so far suggests that the Tories have decided the border will be on the island, not the sea. They are rowing back from commitments made by May and are now talking about minimal checks as opposed to no checks. The EU are frustrated at the fact no proposals have been put forward.

There seems to be only two scenarios: 1) they are putting forward nothing because the ultimate plan is to go with a NI-only backstop. 2) They are putting forward nothing because they have nothing.

Option two is looking increasingly likely.

DUP now supporting an Irish Sea border. They are being thrown under the bus gently.

I thought the DUP had the whip hand - controlling whether this new proposal will remain every four years despite representing a minority view on Brexit.

EU will throw that out. Will not happen.

It depends on your perspective OP, many would argue, that whatever happens, the DUP have had an excessively forceful contribution on the Brexit process and have gained funding from the central government and verbal statements of support as to the importance of the Union from successive PM's.

Others would argue they have been manipulated throughout and have been shown to be entirely self-serving, ignorant of the majority of opinions in the north, have lost the battle in the north in relation to abortion, have alienated business, farming and policing communities and been shown to be entirely capable on focusing on the need for a devolved government in the north because of a fear of what that would mean to them and their supporters.

And, if you are actually a member of the DUP, you think that this has shown just how underhand the Irish Government is, how important unionists are to the structure of the United Kingdom and how a No Deal will enable you to point the finger of blame down the road to Dublin.

No matter what happens, they will never acknowledge that they have been thrown under a bus and more so, they probably will probably steadfastly believe their own words and become more entrenched in their hatred of engagement with the nationalist community and the Irish government. Should there be a border, and should there be conflict as a result of it, the DUP's MO will switch to demanding direct rule from Westminster and I would not be surprised to see their supporters behave to help bring that about.

They completely over played their importance

They could have got May's deal over the line and Brexit would have been achieved

Below standard and off topic posts deleted.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

It is what happens when small parties get notions and assume that nobody can best them. Boris has his eye on getting a majority and dispensing with the need for annoying smaller partners.

It's been said the DUP have more to fear from English nationalists than Irish ones
