I welcome more women into the job, but is having specific recruitment campaign just for women not discriminatory? Would a male candidate be turned away from the training centre on the open day?

Seems like a classic case of sex discrimination.

I disagree. Bus driving is an area where women are under-represented.
This is just an open day to invite females who may be curious about how to drive a bus to give it a go.

I doubt very much that a woman would be potentially recruited over a man as Dublin Bus currently need all the drivers they can get, whatever their gender!

According to the website the women only need a car license but everyone else needs a theory done for the D

Well is does say that the requirements will be explained on the day.

Maybe they think that women can't read the fact that they need a D learner permit to drive, and it needs a blackboard.

They don't need a licence to drive around the private yard.

They are doing it to try and get them in and let them see would they like it.

Once it can be read they will be happy enough.

    1 it's a job for life
2 I'd imagine you need to be thick skinned
3 I've dealt with drunken fist fight on board aswell as rowdy teenagers trying to rob cash among other situations so I think I'll be ok dealing with the public so long as I don't let it get to me?

    Hope so anyway

We are the lowest paid in CIE to put up with the most amount of crap.

I mean it's not driving at all. It's shoveling people 50 meters down the road and that's it. You get no thanks for it but you do get abuse when something goes wrong which isn't you're fault

Id much rather be with a private company doing the private hires etc which i have done before

But don't get me wrong. Someone might like it !
