Curly/wavy hair cut

    I know this has come up before, and I have searched........
    YET AGAIN I have lost another hairdresser to *going to Australia for a year*

    Am hitting desperation point now, Just managed to find her locally,after years of traipsing to Dublin city centre and paying €120 for a cut :(:(

    I'm in Mullingar and have resigned myself to having to go to Dublin. I have been to EVERY SINGLE hair salon here. Not really happy to pay that sort of price, but would like a recommendation for a hairdresser that is super experienced in cutting nightmare curly/wavy hair.

    Am happy to have a dry cut. NOT Peter Mark!:D Anyone, please :confused::confused:

    Hiya,

    Have you tried the natural cut? http://www.thenaturalcut.ie/ They're expensive but not 120e expensive! I've been once and to be honest they cut my hair a bit too short, when I really wanted a light trim (I have 3c hair). However, I've heard a lot of very positive feedback from others on the curly Ireland facebook group.

    The key to cutting and styling curly hair is all in the tension you use, whether firm for straightening Afro curls or a light tension when cutting a section.

    Have you tried salons/hairdressers who specialise in cutting Afro hair?
    I learnt to cut and style Afro (and Asian hair) when I was in London.

    I’m not advertising my services btw, as I only do friends hair now and I live on the west coast.

    Hi I have a proper curly cut (i.e. I can't straighten it now as it would look 'wonky'). The natural cut is really good value. I went to Oliver. I was happy but 6 weeks in I'm dying to get it trimmed again. Since then I tried Saola in the curly look. Amazing cut and it has lasted months and growing out without me itching to trim it again. The only thing I HATE is he thinks he is a god when it comes to curly hair and you have to book in for a consultation and cut which is 120euro. The consultation for me is BS as I know how to maximise my curls (which are more waves) and I use all curly approved products. He raked my hair (which left it not curly) and puts every other brand down aside from what he stocks. Then for my 2nd app I had to rebook for another consultation when I just want a cut. The cut was amazing though so I will suck it up. There is a newish salon for curly hair now in temple bar called the curl artist who is supposed to be very good.

    Hsha NO WAY am I paying €120 :) ITS MAD. I'm actually thinking of putting my head upside down and getting the scissors out :)

    I will definitely contact all these salons and have a chat,60 euro would be more like it, though I think that's quite pricey too. But us curlies have it hard...... So difficult to get a good cut.

    Totally agree on the Curly Look, felt like he thought he was the holy grail of curly hair.

    Recently went to Cathy the curl artist. Price wise is similar to the curly look but she recommends only about 2 cuts a year unless something has happened to your hair. Shes as knowledgeable as Saulo but doesn't push any products and when I was there she was talking about just providing dry cut and style versus going through methods and all that.

    Would definitely recommend her

    That's great to hear Segotias as I've been debating whether to book her - and she doesn't have the 6 month wait list which is a farce in itself ;)

    Definitely worth a visit. I went after my hair was growing back from chemo where about 20% hadn't fallen out but was wrecked from treatment, she was able to give me a decent cut without taking off loads of length

    I can recommend a super stylist (she says her practice came from cutting her mam's curly hair) - but she's based in Graystones, Wicklow. Probably too far out of the way
