Finding info on history of our primary school

    Dear All,

I am a primary school teacher and I am just wondering would anyone have any advice on where to go to find about the history of our school as we are planning on setting up a website for our school in the coming months.

It was suggested to contact a retired principal but unfortunately he is not in great health and we were wondering if there is any service or body where such information might be.

    Many thanks in advance

Was it around in the 1930's? The Folklore Collection Schools Project would give some stories for the site. Have you checked to see if the roll books are available?

Might be worth talking to he parish with which your school is associated. They, or the diocese, may have relevant records and information, especially around the original establishment of the school.

The National Archives should have material in their Dept. of Education files - about the running of the school, teachers employed there, etc. Depending on how old the school is, the material may or may not be accessible.
