I'd go for the Reverend. If you like the sunburst version then you'd do well to look up Prymaxe Vintage's website and sign up for their newsletter. They include a new discount code every week. It's between 10 and 22%, depending on the event. Their shipping charges are considerably less than those of the seller you linked to on ebay. $150 for USPS shipping of a guitar without a hard case is very high.

Hi guys, well the winner is.........Reverend Manta Ray! One of these is winging its way to me as we speak. The more I read about Reverend, the more I wanted one. Thanks to Ravelleman for pointing me in their direction (bloody hard to find suppliers!) and in generally thanks to everyone who offered there advice. It definitely helped me make an informed choice.!

    Oh, good news.

Have you decided where you're going to buy it from?

Yes, Merchant Music City in Glasgow. It worked out roughly same price wise once I had all ancillary costs for buying from America factored in. Also, they are an approved retailer so if I have any problems hopefully that will help.

Their prices aren't bad at all. The blue Double Agent looks great, though I have my eyes on an Elitist Casino.

I'll be very interested to hear your review when you get it - I'm sure you, like me, have heard nothing but good things about the quality of Reverends.

Ya I have to say, Reverend seem to have a very very good reputation. I did alot of reading, googling and general watching of forums etc. The level of respect for the brand is something else. One thing that kept coming up was the build quality relative to other similarly priced guitars.
That probably swung it for me, but I also the idea that they are a smaller brand punching above their weight!

Even though I said the Sheraton, I too have heard very good things about Reverends. I'm sure you'll be very happy.

Thanks Biketard. Looking forward to getting my hands on it!

Well I got my Manta Ray yesterday and although I only had a few hours to mess with it, I was very happy. The build quality is cleary evident and it has a lovely rich tone. Currently have not added any gain as I want to get the clean tone down first. Looking forward to getting home to it tonight!

On a not so unrelated item, I have seen this Epiphone Sheraton up this morning as new. It says it is made in Korea so I contacted the seller to check. He states that as far as he knows it is made in Korea as stated on the back of head. Not looking to purchase but just wondering is this possible?

Well four years on I said I would update because why not? Manta Ray is a great guitar. Have spent many a happy hour with it. Has even been gigged and sounded great.
