I took this snap on Nassau St (near Lincoln Lane) on Sunday!

It's an old sign for "Finn's Hotel" on the gable of a red brick building.

A flickr group for "Ghost Signs" (old signs in Dublin) would be great!
I've seen loads that are not featured on the thread but never have my camera on me!

    Oh yeah!

I got another one this morning. It's on Terenure Road East on the way from Terenure to Rathgar:

    picture.php?albumid=1068&pictureid=5341

I guess it refers to some "extinct" administrative district. Anyone know?

Rathmines used to be a township untill about 1930 when it was taken over by Dublin Corporation - that's why it had a Town Hall. Now taken over by the VEC. Still has the clocktower!

Court of Petty Sessions, Rathfarnham village:

No idea what it's used for now.

In relation to the hector gray sign:

If you approach middle abbey street from liffey street.. and look towards the side of the hector gray building, you will see another 'ghost sign' for the aforementioned store.

Anyone that grew up in Lucan will remember Cormack's:

    picture.php?albumid=1068&pictureid=5698

It's where you would go for bags of marbles, fishing tackle, puncture repair kits and of course Matchbox cars:

    picture.php?albumid=1068&pictureid=5699

The famous Matchbox display case is no longer there, but the window sticker is:

I often pass Cormacks shop in Lucan Alex, I sometimes picture it as an aladdins cave of 1970's/80's toys hidden in it's attic or back room, I can always dream.:)

I'd say you could be right there! I didn't have a proper look through the shutters, but there did seem to be some bits and pieces inside.
