Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Loose tea

    I have been trying loose teas recently from supermarkets.

    I tried Dunnes Stores (green box) and found that rather than loose leaves the box was filled with what I can only describe as dust/dirt.

    I then tried black box from Barry's. And the same, just leaf dust.

    I am assuming that the loose tea is just the same as in tea bags rather than the traditional loose leaf provided even a few years ago.

    I wonder can anyone recommend proper loose leaf tea with real leaves rather than this leaf dust/sweepings?
    I am not anywhere near city or specialist shops , just hoping for a mainstream brand that has traditional loose leaf tea.

    campbells in the yellow tin and refill bags is very nice me and my wife have been using it for a few years now

    Thanks for that. Is the cut leave size reasonable enough to b caught be a filter?

    I am finding the Dunnes and Barry's so fine dust that it passes through

    We use Barry's red box here, there may be a half spoon of dust from a box, that's all

    Bewleys breakfast tea. Quite dear to buy in most Bewleys but the Bewleys shop in Blackrock shopping centre bag up their own and sell it at a sensible price. Consistently great tea.

    We use this teapot, or one very similar, and it's grand

    you can get fairly good loose leaf tea in Tiger or Søstrene Grene usually too.

    I have tried Barry's black box, which they label as their premium blend. But it is mostly dust and very tiny leaves.

    I will give the red a try
