Running events/races in Spain (Marbella and surroundings)

    Hi all,

I'm heading to Spain for a couple of weeks towards the ned of this month and trying to see if there are any races on in the Marbella region of South Spain. I can't seem to find any resources online with a list of races/events etc - it may be because it is too hot and there is a break from these events during the hottest times of the year, but I hope not.

If anyone would know of any sites etc where I could find some info, I would appreciate it.

I think most running events in Spain, especially in the south, avoid summer, because of the heat during the day.

This site collates a lot of the events from around the world: https://marathons.ahotu.com/calendar/marathon/spain

I've been going there for years July/August - very little on and hard to find them. Its essentially limited to just trail races in a few places north of Malaga, not much very close to Marbella

    Check out www.dorsalchip.es
    also https://andaluciarunning.com

Closest one to Marbella is Casares just outside Estepona - 27th July 21:40 - a 12km trail race with 620m of climb.

if you're into openwater swimming, a good few races identified on that site also.

Thank you = sae that alright - has some big races, but definitely seems July/August is quiet.

Open water swimming could be an option alright - been a while, but keen to get back to triathlon, so worth a look.

Not sure how I would get away with a night time trail race and leaving 2 young children at the apartment with my wife ;) Will check it out tho.

Have been out there a few times last couple of years. Very hard to find in high summer any races
Try this https://marathons.ahotu.com/calendar/andalusia or here http://www.rfea.es/web/competiciones/competiciones.asp

Marbella half is in Sept/Oct - think early oct this year . Malaga marathon later in year Dec

Main route to run is along the coast to puerto banus and is pretty good mix of promenade and hard packed trail, good 12k round trip. Beware of the heat though!

I'm in Barcelona for July and there's utterly nothing happening race wise around here. Most people I see running look like tourists too :)

Southern Europe in general will avoid organising any sporting events over the summer, for two main reasons:

    - Extreme heat
    - Too many people on holiday to make it worth while
