Hi all, THE son wants to build a pc for some light gaming ( The Sims, Splatoon, Grand Theft Auto) and school work, he wants me to give him a hand this is our first time to build one, he has about 700 euro to put into it, i was wondering would this be any good we put it together on pc part pickers, it said the power supply might not work whit this motherboard, i picked this one for the built-in wifi. can we upgrade it in the new year with a GPU, and if so what would you recommend.

€700 is plenty for a full computer.
Get the extra storage as & when you need it.

A lot of these prices are the lowest I've seen in ages, but there's a chance you can still save a few quid in the sales - enough to get a fancy mouse or CPU cooler.

Hi the young lad looked at what you recommend and liked it but he wants RGB on the ram, motherboard and case he thinks it looks good, he said he would like the option upgrade in the future, so i sad i would put some money to it for him what do you think of this.

Just a reminder that is pounds and will equate to around ~€800.

Heres a build that includes most of the original parts but instead gives you a RGB Motherboard, case and RAM.

The case is a little on the cheaper side but I've used aerocool before and had no complaints. The RGB strip is nice. If you want to up the budget a bit you could go for the corsair spec-06 rgb case, I currently have it and love it.

Thanks SweetCaliber He will have 750-800 euro to spend on it now i will give him the extra few euros, he said he would give me a hand with some work to make the extra money,, we will go with this build but not the case i think we will wait for black Friday and see if we can get a good case and some of the parts on sale, as for the storage should he go for more storage now or wait to get it when he needs it, he has a 1TB hard drives out of an old sky box would this work as storage for some games thanks.

I've tweaked the build to fit your new budget, at the time of writing it comes in at ~€774.

I've added back the case you originally stated, I did not see that my apologies.

For storage, I'd stick with the 500GB for now, the motherboard I put in the build has two M.2 slots and plenty of sata ports so you can upgrade at any time in the future.

The board also has build in wifi so your grand there also, no need for a separate network card.

Again the price is higher because of the RGB additions.

Thanks lads, the young lad likes this build so were going to go with it, we'll wait till black Friday to see if we can get any of the parts for less, i'm going to build one for myself as well at the same time, all the same parts but with a 3400g no GPU and maybe a different case. hi lads going to pull the trigger on this bill today just wondering if I swapped out the 2600x for a 2700x do I need to change the motherboard or will the motherboard do in this build

Those MSI boards are fine for 2700X, though I don't see the point in it - Ryzen 3600 is a better buy if you're going up in budget.

The 3600 is better than 2700X due to higher IPC & core speed.

Any of the MSI B450 "MAX" boards should work out-the-box, or if you want X570 get pretty much any board except low-end MSI or Biostar, e.g. Gigabyte Gaming X / UD, ASRock Phantom Gaming 4 / Pro4, ASUS Prime P.

AFAIK, CCL will update the BIOS if you buy both for a small fee.

Is the MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard any good only picked it for it RGB and wifi, The young lad likes the RGB on the board,or should he go with the MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX AMD Socket AM4 Motherboard or the MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS AMD Motherboard and buy a wifi and bluetooth card, which would be the best. CCL will update BIOS for free if you buy both.

I'd go with the Tomahawk Max & spend the difference on an RGB cooler, e.g. AMD Wraith Prism or Wraith Max.

PCIe wi-fi/bluetooth card is fine, no point IMHO to buy a board just cos it has built-in.

I'll go with the Tomahawk Max and AMD-WRAITH-PRISM, what would be a good PCIe wi-fi/bluetooth card.
