The Tivoli Theatre,on Francis St, Dublin, has been transformed into a €3 million, 1,200 capacity venue and is set to become Ireland's leading celebrity hangout.

Tivoli, as it will now be known, will provide clubbers with a 21st Century nightclub that exemplifies the very best that Ireland has to offer in terms of image, service and style with a discerning music policy. In what will be the inaugural "first" for the club, Tivoli is being fitted out with a top-of-the-range €500,000 turbo sound rig that is the first of its kind in the world - the DMX Light Control Digital Surround Sound system. Be assured that the people behind Tivoli will be responsible for many more "firsts" in the future.

It's not just the sound system that will impress. The club's interior comprises stylish and comfortable elevated seating areas surrounding a large dancefloor, boasting a range of contemporary design styles with a retro edge. The VIP area is situated on an elevated site that will allow its patrons to view the club in comfort and without obstruction. And there's even ample car parking on site!

The all important music policy won't disappoint either as Tivoli has plans afoot to secure the world's biggest, most credible dance names in the industry on a regular basis. According to Peter May, the man responsible for one of the country's most successful clubs, Genius: "Admission prices at Tivoli will be kept as low as possible because unlike other major promoters we won't charge exorbitant prices for the DJ's that people want."

Starting as they mean to go on; the team secured superstar DJ David Holmes for what could be his last DJ set as he prepares to concentrate on his burgeoning Hollywood career doing movie scores. Tivoli's crew have also netted themselves another coup by securing a world exclusive with dance supergroup Orbital for their first ever DJ set on the 30th of March. Local DJ's needn't stress, as nurturing homegrown talent is highly important to Tivoli's team.

Redsettaz Barry and Dave met in somewhat unusual circumstances - a police
cell in Donnybrook after a particularly unfortunate night out. Despite
this and Dave's fondness for black eyeliner - they discovered a mutual love of
music for dancing to. Both having been reasonably successful at attempting
to DJ beforehand (Barry in various night-clubs in the West, Dave at a
junior disco on the Dublin to Holyhead ferry) they decided two are better than
    one and formed Redsettaz.

Learning their four-deck trade in the notoriously cutting-edge UCD bar,
they supported Dublin hero DJ Wool one night, and, a few kind words later, he
hooked up them with the now-defunct Munki crew in 1998. Then they started to
play in places with lots of lights and more than one emergency exit: the
Mean Fiddler (now Mono), RiRa, Liquid, Sir Henry's and, most regularly, the
Funnel - the scene of some of their best shows.

In late 1999, they began working with Ireland's top independent promoters,
Influx, and were soon offered a residency in Influx's long-running
Thursday night in the Kitchen. Gigs in Temple Bar Music Centre, RiRa, Redbox, Issac
Butts, Switch, PoD, Temple Theatre, GPO in Galway, the Forum in Waterford,
Temple Of Sound in Limerick, 303 in Camolin, Stables in Mullingar, Scream
and the Savoy in Cork and, of course, appearances in the Influx/Redbox
arenas at the last two Homelands festivals followed.

Current residencies include a prime biweekly Saturday slot at Influx's new
Tivoli venture, a monthly Redbox slot, once a month for respected techno
promoters Genius and regular once-offs in the likes of the Forum, Waterford,
the GPO, Galway, Kitchen in Dublin, Gravity in Dublin. They were also
recently nominated in the Best Breakthrough Act in the 2002 Smirnoff Award.

Barry has recently stared hosting a weekly show, Filter, on Spin1038 in
Dublin. It goes out on Friday nights and brings the best in new music from
across the board, alongside DJ mixes, guests, giveaways etc.

Outside of DJing, Barry was the deputy editor and music editor of Clubbingdotcom
magazine, and dance writer for HotPress alongside Richard Brophy.

    Justin Robertson
Justin Robertson has plotted a successful career as a DJ, remixer, and producer (the latter under his own name as well as Lionrock). Aloof from the limelight and popular almost despite himself, Robertson took an almost laughably conventional route to a level of success reached by probably less then one percent of dance music producers.

A native of Manchester, Robertson earned a degree in philosophy before taking a job as (what else) a record clerk in the Eastern Bloc record shop, where he began collecting the funkier side of progressive house and DJing on a regular basis. After remixing a track for Mad Jack on in-house label Creed (his mix of "Feel the Hit" became something of an underground smash), Robertson was subsequently flagged down by the likes of the Shamen, Candyflip, the Sugarcubes, and Erasure to lend his evolving signature to their material. As his style matured, he became associated with the burgeoning Balearic scene (a hodgepodge subcategory of house encompassing a range of influences, from rock and R&B to disco and garage). Robertson released his solo debut, "Roots and Culture"/"Lionrock," on his own Most Excellent label in 1992. After raising a few brows and spawning another round of remix work, Robertson was courted by pop/dance label Deconstruction, with whom he signed in 1993.
Robertson released an additional EP, Packet of Peace, on Deconstruction in April of 1993 before settling in to record his full-length debut. Released late the following year as Lionrock, An Instinct for Detection was an ambitious effort to say the least, featuring scads of instrumentation resolutely untraditional by U.K. dance music standards, mixed and matched with dirty house breaks and aggressive but accessible arrangements. Although the record was met warmly, its subtle abuse of pop (in the Beach Boys -- not the Mariah Carey -- sense) was lost on many, and it remains something of a cult favorite. Robertson embarked on an elaborate tour following the album's release, and the presence of guitars, percussion, and drum kit on the stage of a Lionrock show became standard from word go. In 1996, the popular mix CD series Journeys by DJ contracted a mixed set from Robertson, resulting in a massive two-disc set spanning the range not only of Lionrock's influences, but of the last two decades of electronic dance music as a whole. Robertson continued to be a popular remixer, and Lionrock releases -- including 1998's City Delirious -- appeared on a sporadic basis until he ditched the designation for his first production album under his own name, 2001's Revtone.

    Andy Weatherall
One of the UK's most respected players and most versatile covering all bases - techno, electro, deep house, twisted funk, experimental & downtempo.

Numerous projects in the studio most recently as Two Lone Swordsmen with Keith Tenniswood who together signed with the formidable Warp Records. '98 saw the 'Blue Sparks' EP followed by the album 'Stay Down'. An EP 'A Virus With Shoes' and remix project was released in '99, 'Tiny Reminders' 2000 and their new remix project 'Further Reminders' is now.

Andrew's exclusive London residency is for our very own 'Haywire Sessions' every 1st Friday of the month at 93FeetEast.. He can also be found making regular appearances throughout the UK and overseas. Last year saw his Two Lone Swordsmen tour 'Turnatables & Machines' with more dates to follow this year, including Fuji Festival in Japan and 2 dates in Holland September.

As we've all already seen in the past few months here in club tivoli , the addition of the drum'n'bass room upstairs has added a dimension to the club not really seen in Dublin before. Goldie in the main auditorium, Bassbin residents on new years eve, Grooverider with Slam, and Zinc with Billy nasty, the list goes on and on. Now to add to the list is leading UK we've PESHAY, along side Dublin stalwart Razor. (Full peshay biog. below) Having collected the 'Best Drum & Bass DJ 2001' at the prestigious Ibiza club, Pacha (alongside other key industry players such as Roger Sanchez, David Morales and Carl Cox) Peshay is definitely hot on people's minds as they eagerly await his next move... we await his visit with glee!!!

    Peshay. Biog

Peshay's rise through the drum'n'bass scene has been nothing short of meteoric. Respected worldwide for his releases on labels such as Metalheadz, Good Looking, Mo Wax and Island to name but a few.
His ability to DJ and produce at the highest levels have won him praise and admiration from anyone fortunate enough to have heard one of his many classic releases or see him perform behind a set of decks. His excellence behind the decks is legendary.
When he DJs, 4 minute mixes are the norm and the excitement that he generates describe Peshay perfectly..
Meeting Goldie one evening led to Peshay meeting Dego and Gus at REINFORCED. This led to the "PROTÉGÉ EP" that first brought Peshay into the spotlight. The EP smashed it and this led to an increase in Peshays DJ work.
At a Dreamscape event in 1992 LTJ Bukem introduced himself to Peshay it was this meeting that eventually led to a joint collaboration which produced "19.5" and Peshays first solo outings, the awesome PIANO & VOCAL TUNES, now all acclaimed classics for the GOOD LOOKING imprint.
    .
After a couple of projects for BASEMENT RECORDS which include FUTURAMA and ROLL THE BEATS Peshay produced "PSYCHOSIS", "PREDATOR", "ON THE NILE" and "NOCTURAL" as well as a host of remixes for METALHEADZ. Peshay also contributed to the acclaimed "LOGICAL PROGRESSION" and "PLATINUM BREAKS" albums with FFRR as well as being chosen to remix both releases from the acclaimed album "TIMELESS" by GOLDIE, as well as stinging remixes of LTJ Bukem's "MUSIC" and Galliano's "FREEFALL".
. By the end of 1998 Peshay finally found himself at ISLAND RECORDS. The critically acclaimed album "Miles from Home" released on Island Blue Records, a subsiduary of Island Records.
Peshays remix credits include artists such as GALLIANO, JAYDEE, JOHN COLTRANE, PHOTEK, CARL CRAIG, GOLDIE, INGRID SCHROEDER, LTJ BUKEM and COURTNEY PINE to name but a few. Always choosing to remix tunes he personally likes has produced an impressive catalogue of quality dance tracks.
The success of his last album 'MILES FROM HOME' released on Island Records in 1999, saw his talent recognised across the globe. Peshay gained the type of publicity that only a select few of the Drum and Bass fraternity had gained before, including being on the front page of the Irish Times, getting rave reviews in both Australia and the U.S.A. and being idolised in Japanese journals.
He also gained wide acclaim at home in the U.K. with MUZIK, MIXMAG, DJ, MINISTRY and FRONT, as they all voted MILES FROM HOME album of the month..
Peshay's new album, 'Fuzion', is varied and bursting with character..
Some of the tracks contain a high paced energy, making them the type of thing you'd love to hear loud on a nightclub dance floor, whilst others are set at a slower pace containing enticing female vocals to give a more soulful sassy feel to them, typically being the type of tune you'd enjoy hearing in the middle of a hot lazy summer's afternoon. Overall, FUZION takes on influences from funk, disco, soul & house and fuzes them together in drum & bass style to create the unique blend of sounds which best describe both Peshay and this album.
With Mixmag, Ministry, Muzik & Jockey Slut, DJ, Knowledge all selecting both the single 'You Got Me Burning' and the album 'Fuzion' as their review of the month. When Radio 1 producers were sent copies of the single it was soon heard on morning radio shows by Sarah Cox, Jo Whiley & Cris Moyles, through to evening sessions by Pete Tong, Mary Ann Hobbs, Giles Peterson and of course Fabio & Grooverider. At this point it didn't take long before Dave Pierce selected it as his overall single of the week on his peak hour drive-time show on Radio 1, listened to by millions of viewers each week night.
Having collected the 'Best Drum & Bass DJ 2001' at the prestigious Ibiza club, Pacha (alongside other key industry players such as Roger Sanchez, David Morales and Carl Cox) Peshay is definitely hot on people's minds as they eagerly await his next move...

    UMEK
    Philth

    Friday 28th February 2003
    Club Tivoli
    Francis Street
    Dublin Eight

    Doors 10.30pm - late
Adm. 16.90euro incl. booking fee. On Sale from Ticketmaster

Born in 1976 Lubljana, Slovenia, Uros Umek began DJing in 1993 while he pioneered large scale techno parties with some of his friends in his home country which quickly became the county's favourite. Through his hard work creating these parties, techno became the most popular form of music in Slovenia and made him a very popular individual. He is the most popular and most famous DJ in Slovenia, his nickname is "Votter", which means father..

He currently co-owns runs Consumer Recreation Records, as well as releasing on, amongst others, Tortured (as Mumps), Planet Rhythm, Audio, Missile, Communique. His current style is the combination of many different roots, which the more long term Umek fans may recognise. Starting with a rough, uncompromising edge he quickly built a reputation in the studio.

More recently he has developed a new funkier sound highlighted on his last double pack on Tortured under his Mumps guise, a real winner due to its funked up style - this was Carl Cox's number 1 record for 3 months. Recent productions included the hugely successful Recycled Loops (with close friend Valentino) and as Zeta Reticular on Billy Nasty's electro label, Electrix.

The last two years have been massive for Umek, with him being voted into DJ Magazines top 100 DJs in 2002.
He now stands as one of techno highest profile names, with DJing skills and production that far outstrips many of his contemporaries.

2002 saw him release the Torture Chamber Vol 2, plus an experimental album on Technika, showing the depth of his talent.

    Cream In Dublin

    Club Tivoli
    Francis Street
    Dublin Eight
    Friday 21st February
    Special Guests :
    Guy Ornadel

Club Tivoli, in Dublin has rapidly established itself as one of the leading clubbers venues in the country in its short but frantic 1 year in existence. It is delighted to announce that it is to join forces with one of the biggest club brands in global clubbing, CREAM to become its new home in Dublin.

From regular club nights in The Ambassador and other major venues, to major one offs in The Point, Cream has easily found a place in the hearts of Irish clubbers. The runaway success of Creamfields in Punchestown each year, has merely confirmed this. ŒCream In Dublin¹ will happen once a month on Friday nights and will easily complement the clubs cutting edge music policy.

Cream boss James Barton had this to say:
"We are really excited about our new home in Dublin.
Combining Club Tivoli's great facilities and atmosphere with the quality
music that Cream are famous for, will make this an amazing monthly
event! Myself and the rest of the Cream crew are really looking forward
to some more mad party nights in Dublin!"

Cream In Dublin, kicks of on Friday Feb 21st with Guy Ornadel.

    BIOG :

Guy Ornadel is renowned as one of the premier DJs on the UK circuit. He¹s a regular at the nations super clubs and is becoming a mainstay on the international circuit, taking in all the top clubs across the globe. He is described as Œone of the leading Trance DJs¹.

After leaving school, Guy¹s first job was working at a specialist record shop based in London. After a year he landed a job in the press office for Warner Brothers and Virgin where he worked for two years. At 21 he had a break and set up the DMC offices in New York.

In 1997 Guy left DMC and returned to the UK where he formed Ornadel Management. As a manager, Guy looks after publishing and recording rights for Sasha, Steve Lawler, Sander Kleinenberg and Charlie May, however, he does not look after their DJ diaries. Time management is the key to Guy¹s success, balancing his management agency and fulfilling his own passion for DJing.

ŒDuring the week my focus is all on the artists I work with, but on the weekend I get to express Œmyself¹ as a DJ. You can't come close to that feeling when a packed club is going crazy to a set that¹s running well. In fact there's nothing that can come close¹.

Throughout his musical career Guy has been influenced by DJs such as Sasha, Digweed, Junior Vasquez, Dave Seaman¹s sets at Cream and Renaissance (in ¹91), and the legendary Tony Humphries.

ŒI¹ve always listened to lots of other DJs and love nothing more than to be inspired. If it¹s put together well then it¹s more important than the style of the music they are playing¹.

Guy¹s addiction to DJing stemmed from building a record collection at the age of 17. He became hooked listening to pirate radio shows spending all his time hunting tracks that could only be found in a few specialist shops. Fifteen years later and he¹s still hooked. As well as deep progressive beats Guy¹s trademark combo of Dutch trance and German stompers keep dance floors fast and firing, delighting the movers and shakers that fill them every time.

ŒI like a balance in my set but I¹m not afraid to embrace the "bigness" of tunes that do it well, yet still retain good production skills¹

The way he anticipates and works with the crowd is well recognised when he plays. The bond between himself and the crowd is acknowledged by the energy given off as he maneuvers from one track to the next.

ŒWhen a night¹s good, there¹s definitely that feeling of being connected between the DJ and the crowd. You get this feeling that wherever you take them musically they¹ll go with you and then as the DJ you respond to them. ŒThat¹s the buzz.¹

As an international DJ, Guy has rocked dance floors all around the world from the main room at Cream, Ibiza to touring the clubs in Australia with Godskitchen and playing at incredible venues in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Israel and throughout America and Canada. In England Guy has regularly appeared at all the major Dance Festivals including Homelands, Gatecrasher, Creamfields and Global Gathering.

ŒIn the last few years I¹ve travelled a fair bit. Not as much as some due to my commitments in the week, but definitely enough to get a snap shot of the world scene. I really think through the Internet that international clubbers have had more access to music and as a result the club scene has become much more global. I really thought that each country had it¹s own musical tastes but now I realize that clubbers are clubbers and we all share the same love of music¹.

Although Guy was offered various residencies he decided on Passion in Coalville and Promise in Newcastle which draw a following of dedicated clubbers. "I like the fact even though these clubs weren't as well known as some of the super clubs, the atmosphere was as good as any of them". He also plays regular guest spots nationwide at Cream, Slinky, Gatecrasher and Godskitchen.

ŒMy style has always been to build my set in a curve leading to total mayhem at the end. If I've played in a club regularly I really feel a sense of trust that they know I'm going to start quite deep and then build and build. I guess I get a kick out of teasing a crowd and then hitting them over the head with a sledgehammer when the times right! If there¹s one club where I feel totally relaxed and the connection is complete, it¹s been at Passion this year¹.

In 1999 Guy released his debut DJ mix CD which was part of the ŒLicense To Thrill¹ series. In February 2000, he released a compilation on Slinky. It was Slinky¹s first release, lifting Guy¹s and the clubs great acclaim. The prestigious mixes, structure and co-ordination of tracks made the CD a must for anyone who appreciates quality dance music.

    LOTTIE - BIOGRAPHY

It has been a great couple of years for Lottie. Winning the Best New DJ prize at the Ericsson Muzik Awards in 1999, she then went on to grab a Top 50 spot in DJ Magazine’s DJ Of The Year poll in one of only nine women in a chart of 100 DJs.

Lottie’s talent was first spotted by the promoters of London’s leading night The Gallery where in 1996 she was selected as their weekly resident. Today as well as a host of International gigs, Lottie plays all over the UK and holds the title of being Bugged Out’s first lady, an honour indeed to be so highly regarded at this legendary Liverpool club.

Where Lottie shines as a DJ is in her quality of music and her insistence in only playing proper house. Spinning deep and tribal, through to tough and techy house with an added twisted disco and funky sound from UK and American labels; she is a consummate spinner. Although her insistence that music come first has strongly directed what media coverage she chooses, entering the world of TV and Radio was a natural step for Lottie, presenting for MTV at Homelands (2000) and appearing on Channel 4’s award winning Faking It show as a mentor to a classical musician who was trying to make it as a club DJ, she has also become a regular guest DJ, filling in for Danny Rampling on Radio 1.

Productions include ‘The Sound’ on Duty Free Recordings and ‘The Yob’ with Trade DJ Malcolm Duffy on Remote. Others include ‘Relax’ by Robbie Rivera, and Lottie’s favourite track, ‘Happy Days’ for Defected came out in June ‘99. During 2000 she completed a remix of Junior Cartier’s ‘Women Beat Their Men’ again with production partner Malcolm Duffy. Towards the end of the year she finished a remix of “Walk Of Life” by Billie on Innocent Records and her second solo single “Bushroot” (on Duty Free Recordings) was released in December.

Remix wise, Lottie added her flavour to ‘mountains’ by Meeker on Darren Emerson’s label Underwater, ‘Salsoul Nugget’ by M&S on FFRR and Desert's 'Lettin' Ya Mind Go' on Futuregroove/ Mute Records.

    TERRA DEVA - BIOGRAPHY

    - What is your name? Terra Deva is my real name.

    - What do you do? Singer, songwriter, producer, actor, counselor.

    - How old are you? I was born in June 1976 to a family of music loving educators.

    - Where are you from? The Bay Area, California

    - Training? I trained as a dancer from age three with a few stops around gymnastics and the violin. I then started singing seriously and became a pageant queen - mostly A's in school - found time for drama...classes.

    - First big job? I was on the TV show the "Mickey Mouse Club" for two seasons, no kidding. I sang, acted, danced and interviewed celebrities five days a week.

    - Why dance music? I fell in love with the people I met at raves and clubs around 1993. Eventually, I figured out there was music playing and I enjoyed dancing to it. A DJ/producer in the scene asked me if I could sing, so I did. The trip to England didn't hurt. Then came San Francisco Jazz shows, funk shows, and UK track shows in between TV and radio commercials and industrial films.

    - Why not go for a career making cheesy music? The cheese factory will inevitably melt all sense of reality and personal growth. I learned of alternatives to save myself and grew tired of plastic and "fame for no good reason." I was immersed in Al Green, Bob Marley, Joni Mitchell, Cocteau Twins, Tori Amos, Bjork, Seal, Brazilian Goddess Joyce and Nick Drake. To me these folks represented true artists and remain a constant source of inspiration. I also liked the fun boogie factor of early Brand New Heavies and Deee Lite.

    - What artists are you into right now? Aside from who I work with-Basement Jaxx, Green Velvet, Royksopp, Miss Kitten, Chemical Brothers, Missy Elliot and Timberland, No Doubt, Daft Punk, Bebel Giberto, Coldplay and Kylie of course.

    - Albums? To date, one solo album called Pulled Apart released on Om Records. It was made in '96-'97 and released in 1998. It was inspired by DJ mix tapes and sounded like Portishead recording R&B after crashing a car into Nancy Wilson and all of them meeting Bjork and Grooverider's love child at a club on a house night...er ambitious and well-executed for the independent budget.

    - Singles? Current: "At Night" with Shakedown – went to #6 in the UK, "Sting Me Red (Clever)" with Who Da Funk, "After 2" with Pete Moss - #4 Billboard Hot Dance chart, and "How You Thrill Me" with Junior Jack and Erick Morillo - #27 UK. Shakedown follow up “Drowsy With Hope” and "Dizzy" with YumYum coming soon.

    - Classics: "Soothe" and "Want Me Like Water" as Furry Phreaks with Charles Webster (Presence and Love From San Francisco), "Wrapped Up" and "Broken" (Bugs) and "Fresh Start" and "Inside" from Pulled Apart (Om album). These singles attracted global attention and made joining BMI worthwhile.

    - I have worked with: Shakedown, Erick Morillo, Charles Webster (Furry Phreaks, Love From San Francisco, Presence), Who Da Funk, Pete Moss, Yum Yum, Satoshi Tomeii, Jimmy Van M (Vantage Point), Junior Jack, Harry Choo Choo Romero, AK 1200, Scott Hardkiss, Electric Skychurch, Marc Mitchell, Richard Schiessl, and Andy Chatterley, Young American Primitive, Dave Biegel (Bugs, Puracane, Skyjuice), Josh Michaels (DJ Iz).....underground for sure with moments of greatness and accessibility.

    - What are you doing now? I'm still writing in the studio with different artists and producers with several singles coming out on various labels including Defected, Subliminal/Subusa, Cream, 352, and Definity.

    - What do you want out of life? Balance, strength and flexibility... I'm still training. I want to make fair deals and get some things off my chest. I want to travel, do more live shows, and films. I want to help people raise awareness for important causes and enjoy life's adventures while learning some new tricks. I want to hear and make lots of great music and dance with good people for many years to come.

Hype is back. Some might call him "the ultimate drum and bass party DJ." Every time he plays here he blows the crowd away. He doesn't just play the latest dub plates or the blackmarket top 10, he play right across the Drum and Bass spectrum. From funky to hard to jump-up his plan is to entertain the crowd and he does this in true style.

Hype is to Drum and Bass what Afrika Bambatta was to Hip-Hop. A true pioneer, he started out with the shut up and dance sound system, spun reggae, hip-hop and house in the 80's and represented Britain in the1989 DMC's.He started radio with fantasy fm and then moved on to Kiss Fm picking up several awards along the way. Production wise, he had releases as Scientist on Suburban Base, and in 1993 teamed up with Pascal to form The Ganja crew which of course has featured Zinc's classic "Super Sharp Shooter."

Since 1997 Hype, Zinc and Pascal came together as the True Playaz crew. Staunchly independent, the trio has released several 12's and albums and continue touring the world. Hype is in fact one of the most popular Dj's in the world, in any genre, and his trademark scratching, selection of tunes and unbelievable energy make one of his sets unmissable. Catch him with support from Razor. @ Tivoli Mar 15th
