Shannon Airport has recorded 147.4mm of rainfall up to March 15th which makes it already the wettest March on record at the station with records back to 1946. This total does not even include today's rain.

The station had its previous wettest March on record way back in.... March 2017 with a total of 133.9mm.

    Data from Met Éireann.

this has been an absolute horrid month so far, right up there with last November for misery.

Thankfully the coming week looks much, much dryer and significantly milder.

Cork Airport reporting sleet and 2°c at 10pm.

Meanwhile it's 4.8c here in West Clare.

Thanks. we have a marine gale out here just now and brutally cold so hunkered down with the cats. longing for warmth and dry. another loud squall hitting the roof, but the skylark is singing so better things on the way

A positively beautiful start to St Patrick’s day in east Clare - barely a cloud and strong sunshine, no wind.

Weather turns on a dime of course but we can hope…

Yerra look Easter is only round the corner and wouldn't it be lovely to have it nice then.:) Never any point in having it good too early and then paying for it when it should be good. So I'll gladly take it now.

The sun has emerged here and although still biting cold, it makes a difference to the dwelling through the glass. Strong sun!

Some sharp little showers of hail/rain floating about today.
    Very blustery in them.
Nice and sunny in between though.

truly lovely outside right now. Just walked my oldest cat up the drive and left him rolling in sheer joy on the grass.. him not me. Long may it last. Gentle breeze, warm sun, ocean quietening.

The 7-day period, 10th to 16th March 2019, was the windiest 7-day period since 28th February to 6th March 2018 at Malin Head (mean wind speed of 25.1 knots) with a mean wind speed of 24.9 knots. Shows just how benign Winter 2018/19 was.
