Flash contest -- almost a heat wave 26-28 June top temp

It's a flash contest, and easy ... predict the highest temperature in the Republic of Ireland during the core of the predicted warm spell (almost a heat wave? you be the judge) ... the contest will refer to the three days Wed 26th to Fri 28th, if by any chance a warmer temperature occurs before or after that, it doesn't count in the contest.

So you would predict the highest temperature, which day of the three, and the location. The possible locations are the 25 met.ie stations that normally report daily and hourly temperatures on their web site, other locations won't be in the contest.

I will start the bidding with

    29.8 at Mountdillon on Thursday.

    Have at it.

Entries are accepted to 0300h Wednesday, anything later than that will be noted separately and not ranked in the contest.

Points structure will be 70/100 for max temp, losing 1 point per 0.1 error, then 20 points for location, awarding 15 if your chosen location has second highest temperature, 12 if third, 10 if fourth, and 9 down to 1 if anywhere from fifth highest to 13th highest. That leaves ten points for the date, all or nothing on that one (if dates are tied, anyone with a correct date gets 10 points). If locations are tied, you get the points but the next level of scoring drops down (e.g., two tied for 2nd warmest, points awarded for 2nd and 4th warmest).

Regarding non-met-ie locations offered as warm spots, I will score them as closest participating location, if you say something vague like Dublin and not Dublin A, Phoenix Park or Casement, then Dublin will be DubA not the other two, Galway will be Athenry for scoring, Waterford please note is not one of the 25 stations and neither is Kerry Airport. The qualifying locations can be seen on the met.ie website, just click on current weather or yesterday's weather, the same list of stations will appear. This will be the source of verification for the contest.

Note: temperatures offered without decimals will be listed as .0 in the scoring table.
