Modernising a Dinosaur

07.05.2021 20:20 #1
Hello!

I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding my husbands "classic" system.  I want to get him a turntable & I'm just wondering if you stock ones compatible with his equipment & if there are any other items that can be added to bring it into this century because he'll never replace them..big & cumbersome as they are!

The system he has is comprised of:

Denon PMA 355UK amplifier
Marantz ST6000/N2B tuner
Marantz CD6000L/T1B cd player
Monitor Audio Bronze 3 speakers (MA035263 is the only apparent possible serial number)

I'm just wondering what you'd recommend. I'd like a turntable with a cover & am interested to find out if there is anything else that can be done to give him a more modern system.  His birthday is next weekend so I'd need in stock items too!

Many thanks in advance for any recommendations you can give me. He really loves his music!

Hi Smiley11.

Many thanks for the post :)

His current setup while old is still good and there are a few things he can add to bring it more up to date.

For a turntable you could check out the Dual CS440 priced at 299 Euro
https://euro.richersou...matic-turntable.aspx

Also the Excellent Project Debut Carbon priced at 329 Euro
https://euro.richersou...black-turntable.aspx

Also worth a look is the Audio Technica LP3 priced at 219 Euro
https://euro.richersou...black-turntable.aspx

He could also add in a little Bluetooth Dongle to allow streaming from a phone or tablet.
Something like the Ifi Zen Blue priced at 140 Euro
https://euro.richersou...mer.aspx?swapstore=1

Or the Mee Audio Hub priced at 99.99 Euro
https://euro.richersou...mitter-receiver.aspx

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks so much for your response Kenny. Of the turntables, I think I'll go with the Dual as its got a cover.  Can you buy a cover for the Project? The bluetooth dongle sounds like something he'd love too. How long would delivery take to Cork please? Thanks again :)

Thanks for getting back to us Smiley11!

The Project Debut Carbon comes with a cover as well, it's just not shown in the pictures. I actually own a Carbon myself and it's an amazing turntable, especially with the 2M red cartridge that comes as standard! But the Dual is amazing too!

We have these items in stock at the moment so we can get those to you within 3 working days shipping from the store.

Let me know what you think!

Kind regards

David
