Incorrect closing reading sent to old company when switching.

When I switched to Electric Ireland for gas, the closing reading sent to my old provider was 3724. My opening reading with Electric Ireland was 3274.

This difference of 360 m3 has resulted in a very large closing bill, and I will be charged for those units again as I use more gas with Electric Ireland.

Both companies are blaming the other one, but Electric Ireland is the one that sent the closing reading. Bord Gais won't believe me if I send a new reading, and email Customer Support refuses to correct this mistake.

What the heck am I supposed to do in this situation?
