I have a variable mortgage, with no missed repayments and would like to pay a lump sum off my mortgage.
What is involved in making this additional payment?

You should be able to ring them up & make the payment (over the phone if card). As on a variable rate there should be no penalty applied. I've done that in the past without issue.
(Note: They don't accept Cash lump sums)
