04.07.2016 16:01 #1
WHAT IF I SMELL GAS
If you smell gas, in your home or on the street, you should do the following:
·         Ensure gas appliances are turned off and have not been left on and unlit
·         Don’t smoke or use naked flame
·         Don’t unplug or switch anything electrical on or off
·         Open windows and doors
·         Don’t use a phone in the immediate area of the leak, use a neighbour’s or call from outside
If the smell persists turn off the gas at the meter, see the Gas Networks Ireland guide here:
http://www.gasnetworks.ie/en-IE/Safety/Gas-Safety-in-the-home/How-to-turn-your-gas-on-and-off/
Call the Gas Networks Ireland 24 hour Emergency Line 1850 20 50 50.
If you can’t get through, dial 999.
