Three Phase Domestic Standing Charge

Is there a higher standing charge for having 3 phase in a domestic setting i.e. a house which has it installed already?

Hi Weyhey,

Thanks for your post.

If the connection is registered as a domestic property, the normal residential standing charges would apply. Having a three-phase connection shouldn't affect this.

For residential customers, the standing charge varies depending on whether the property is classed as urban or rural, and whether the tariff is standard 24-hour or dual-tariff (nightsaver).

Hope this helps. If you would like us to have a look at your account to double-check anything, just send us the following details by private message:
  • Confirmation that you are the account holder
  • Your full name and address
  • Your account number
  • Your contact number or date of birth
If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Regards,
David

I also wondered this; I do some woodworking at home, and some tools are available as three-phase versions.

Would getting three-phase supply mean a second connection, therefore a second supply charge?

Hi valen,

Thank you for getting in touch.

You would need to check with ESB Networks first to determine what would be required in your case as there may be additional work required. ESB Networks maintain the electricity network for all suppliers and you can find their contact details here.

If you have any other questions, we would happy to help.

Thanks,
Aoife
