Trade in's on PC games

Any plans to introduce this in the future?

Any insight into your main reasons behind this? Are they simply too easy to copy and it's too open to abuse?

Hi Random,

We've no plans to introduce PC trade ins. There are a number of reasons for this but off the top of my head.

  • As you said - too easy to copy / abuse the system.
  • DRM and seriel numbers etc. A lot of PC games are copy protected which leaves us open to a customer being unable to install a game because it has already been registered etc.
  • Becasue of the above people in general are very wary about buying a pre owned pc game so the resale value is very low.
  • Testing is an issue - with a console game we can inspect the disc and load it up within a minute to make sure it's ok. A PC game to be fully tested requires installation etc which takes too much time.
To the best of my knowledge I don't think anywhere still accepts PC games for trade in for the above reasons.
