Carlingford hen party - bars

Thanks! Do you happen to remember if any places were good or less crowded or were they all pretty much the same? We’re staying in a house in Oyster Bay Court, hoping the town is within walking distance

Carlingford hen party - bars

Hi all, I’m organising a hen party in Carlingford (sorry if you’re all sick of hens/stags there). We are going for dinner in the Carlingford Arms at 8.30. I’ve tried to reserve a place in the bar there or else in Ma Baker’s or PJ O’Hare’s for drinks after dinner, but have been told that they don’t t

Birth registered twice

My grandfather's birth was registered twice in - once in August 1904 with a birth date earlier that month, and again in September 1904 with a birth date earlier that month. Any idea why this would have happened? Parents and informant name and addresses are the same in both cases, except that the in

1851 Census - Antrim

Does anyone know what the story is with the 1851 census for Antrim? There are many different spellings for some baronies, e.g. what has to be every possible way you could spell Upper Massereene. Anyone know why this is? Is there an easier way to browse through these records than the National Archive

Long-haul sunshine in February / March

Have you looked at central/South America at all? I’m also looking for a long-haul trip in Feb/March, for 2 weeks though and with a smaller budget. Had been considering Cuba but have heard some varying reports on it recently... Colombia looks great but worried it’s a bit far away for a 2-week trip

TCD evening course

Hi all, Does anyone have any experience of the Introduction to Irish family history evening course being offered by Trinity College? It seems to be a course of 8 classes/lectures for €125. I started some research into my family history about 10 years ago, and would like to get back into it now. Won

One night house rental

Yeah wouldn't mind having to pay for 2 or 3 nights but ideally not a week. Hadn't thought of hostels, will have a look, thanks!

One night house rental

I've had a look but there's actually not much there, I expected more. Some are quite expensive, or else they are just rooms in a house. I think it would suit us better to rent a whole house. Will take another look though, thanks for the reminder

One night house rental

I'm going to a wedding near Glen of the Downs this August. I have a group of friends (~10) travelling over from the UK for it. We'd like to do something together on the night after the wedding (a Sunday night), but the hotel is quite expensive so we don't want to stay there for a second night. Ideal
