I've been looking around for quotes in Cork to get 2 feature walls. One above the fire place and the other in the kitchen, wallpapered.

I've been getting quotes of 400-500 for the 2 walls. Is thi normal or too expensive? I am renovating a house that I just moved into that has very bad plastering on the walls of the stairs and landing. It is a very old house (100+ years old) and it would be a big job to get the plasterwork redone so we are looking at wallpaper solutions. I know Anagypta is a common option used but I'm not keen on it, and I was wondering if anyone in similar situations might be able to suggest another alternative?

There seem to be a lack of shops where you can browse loads and loads of wallpaper. That's what I'm looking for! I did see a REALLY OLD boards.ie post on this but a lot of the answers were from way back in 2007 and most of the shops mentioned have shut down.

Alternatively, can you recommend a really great interior design shop? I've gone into a couple and they have hardly anything in the shop! We want to go somewhere where we can get LOADS of ideas. Basically I'd love to go to a massive wallpaper showroom. Just bought a house and the large living room has ingrain ( wood chip ) wallpaper :-(

Anyway I'm not afraid of hard work and will get it off. BUT.. I heard that up until around 1985 asbestos was used in wood chip wallpaper!! Has anyone else heard this?
